Request for Quick Tools Address Field: Set Default State

    Revisiting the topic -

    Having a default state or drop down list in the Quick Tool Address block seems to me would be standard.  If there is the option to have a country drop down and default selection, why not for States.   I searched on this topic and it is of interest.  However, many of the postings were older than a year. Being new to JotForm, there may have been feature updates to allow for this option that is not obvious.

    Another thought to be useful for different countries is the option to set a default and change the block from state to another field name to accommodate different countries other than the United States.

    I also noticed a work around to add to the URL the state default.  That would work; unfortunately, when copying the code and adjusting for input fields, the value did not show.  I would like to add the default state "Texas" in two different address blocks.

    Input = {institutionaddress}

    Input = {address46}

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Thank you for providing more details.

    Currently, the compound Full Address field from Quick Tools doesn't have the default State / State list you mentioned.

    But how about using instead the All States and Cities Widget on your form.

    link: http://widgets.jotform.com/widget/all_states_and_cities

    You can test the demo form http://form.jotformpro.com/form/41132167744956

    It work like this

    Hope this help. Let us know if there is more we can assist you with.

    Thanks.

    Thank you for the recommendation. Unfortunately, I am not targeting global users only Texas residents, so it would not really be useful compared to the Address Quick Tool.  At this time, I will continue to have users type in the state.

    I would like to have this added to the request list for future updates.  Many form developers have asked for the same solution.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    Unfortunately, it is not possible to set default state right now, but as you have mentioned earlier, you tried adding a custom code in the URL and did not work, you might want to add this code in your ink instead:

    ?institutionAddress[state]=Texas&address46[state]=Texas

    Here's how it will look like:

    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/50777214150955?institutionAddress[state]=Texas&address46[state]=Texas

    That should prepopulate your State field with "Texas" on it.

    Do let us know if this works for you.

    Kind regards.

    I would like to echo fhpw's request for drop-down state/province options.  It is really not helpful from a data perspective for the field to be a text field.  Our custom crm database auto-populates based on zip code; these tables are readily available.  The Global Contact form option is ok, but it is a little awkward for a situation where you actually want to collect full contact information.

    I have now submitted a request ticket base on the original requirement mentioned on the thread. That is, to be able to  assign a default State on the Full Address field.

    We will let you know here once we have update on the status of the requested feature.

    Thanks.

    @d1vp

    Unfortunately, there's no update on this yet and we are unable to give any time frame on this as it depends on our developers' current workload and the actual feasibility of it. However, I strongly suggest that you open a separate thread for your concern so that we can better discuss it and if we can come up with a solution or workaround for you. Thank you for your understanding.
