What are the mail symbols in my form's submissions?

Also, when i check the submissions via my Jotform account, i notice little mail symbols next to each entry. Some are "opened" and some are "closed". However, it doesn't specify anywhere what those symbols indicate and what happens when I click on an "opened" mail.

There are indicators to let you know if you have received a new submission on your forms, example is the screenshot below, you'll see a red icon with a number on it, it indicates that I have received 2 new submissions that I have not yet opened.

 

If you are referring to the mail icon in your submissions page, it just indicates that you have not yet read it, clicking it will change the icon to an opened mail which means you have read it.
