    Auto-fill feature: Clearing submissions

Asked by breev on April 03, 2015 at 08:24 AM

Hi, is there any way to have Autofill activated and delete any cached data after user submission? So after any final submission, the same user can re-start a clean form.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi there,

Normally, once the form was submitted, all fields will be clear for a new submission.

You can set a time frame when will the data be deleted on the browsers cache.

    1. Click the "Preferences" button on the toolbar

    2. Under the Preferences, please go to "Advanced Settings" tab.

3 Click the "Edit Auto Fill Settings" button.

    4. You will see an option to adjust the "Time to Live" feature.  You can change it.

Hope this works. Let us know if you need any assistance.

    THank you.

Hi, it seems that after a submission, if i reopen the link, it stores the whole form (even the progress bar is full).

Is it possible to have a custom Time To Live?

This is an essential feature for long form. But if we need long forms to be submitted several time in a day by the same browser, seems to be impossible to use the Autofill feature..

    setTimeout(function() { JotForm.autoFillInitialize({"menu":"enable","timeout":"4","ttl":"86400","bindChange":"on"}); }, 10)

Unfortunately, that is the only available time frame on the settings. You can download the form full source code and edit if you like.

Let me just clarify, you said if you re-open the link right? What link are you referring to? Is it the link on the email?

That link is for editing the form submissions. If you want to make new submissions then you need to access the direct link of the form and not the edit link from the email.

    Thank you.

    Hi Jan,

i've created an html page on my website showing my form only. I need a web app to install on apple devices. So i implemented the right meta tag to allow that. It works smoothly. I have my web app on my device and when i open it, i have my full screen form. (Safari Based)

My form contains 6 or more pages.

In order to complete my form, the user will have to stop for few minutes several times during the submission and because he will be on a mobile device, it can happen that this device goes on stand-by - lockscreen or the user could accidentally press the home button.

In the user will press accidentally the home screen or he needs to open a different app, the only way to reopen the form is to click again on the web-app or reopen it from the taskbar (iDevices).

When i reopen the web-app, it refresh the content of the page. If i do not have the AutoFill option activated i will have a blank form and any previous filling will be lost. The AutoFIll works smoothly.

But, once the form is submitted, my users need to start a new submission within minutes. Here comes the problem. Even if i close my web-app, when i launch it again, i will have stored in my browser the whole previous submission.

Now i'm trying to edit manually TTL and see how it goes..

If you have any better idea i'll be happy to try..

Other than changing the settings my colleague described, there is not much else we can do on our end.  If you browser is still storing the data after all the autofill features are turned off, your browsers cookies/cache may be storing the form data rather than the forms cookies.  Manually editing the TTL may be your best bet if you need something shorter and more custom than what we offer.  I'm not sure there is much else we can do on our end.
