Is there a way to prepopulate a form field and then lock it?

Asked by Shirley on April 06, 2015 at 06:32 PM

We currently have a field (Job Appplying for) in our form found here: http://www.ugsc.ca/careers_application.html?positionApplying14=CAD%20Technician%20GP

That we pre-populate for the user via a link (see above) - based on the link they click, it prepopulates the "job applying for" field.

We have found that some users are then changing this field to something else, is there a way for us to populate this field for the user (as we are currently) but then locking it as read-only once it is filled in? Or another suggestion for this?

    Thank you,

    Shirley Blundell

    Hi Shirley,

You can set the Read-Only property of the field to ON and the pre-population process will still work.

Hope this help. Let us know if this did not work for you.

    HI there,

    Thank you for your response.
I had tried this before submitting the question however it seems that then the info in the link did not populate in the form... I changed it back since it was not allowing the form to be prepopulated. Any thoughts?

It was working on the link I provided.

As you can see the field Position Applying for is a Read-Only field, and it has a default value.

Are you saying that your form is not having similar output?

Can you share to us the URL of the pre-populated URL. we will check.
