Unique Form Name and Folder Names in Dropbox

Asked by mfaulkner on April 13, 2015 at 01:56 PM

I'd much RATHER have EACH FILE appended w/ the name, w/ all files in the same subfolder of a main folder.

    IE: Mainfolder/FormNameFolder/AllPDFswithUniqueFormNames

    How can that be done?

This is a re-post of a comment on How to Setup Folders Using Unique ID widget in Dropbox?

What you can do is to make Drobox integration like on screenshot attached:

where you will define that is your Main Folder and Subfolder. At the end you need to use unique ID not unique Form Names because in case that your form is submitted several times files will be overwritten on Dropbox.

Hope this will help. Let us know if you need further assistance.

That won't work, because it's going to make 1 main folder, then put all the submissions each in a seperate folder inside. I'd have to create a new sharing in dropbox for each an every submission, which would be insane & defeat everything.

Then, whomever has access to the main folder, also gets access to every folder inside. That won't work, they should only have access to the folder that has only pdf submissions for that one {location}.

IE, doing the above, it'll have:

    mainfolder/

    -foldernameuniquesubid1

    -foldernameuniquesubid2

    -foldernameuniquesubid3

    I need:

    mainfolder+{location1}/

    -foldernameuniquesubid1

    -foldernameuniquesubid2

    -foldernameuniquesubid3

    mainfolder+{location2}/

    -foldernameuniquesubid1

    -foldernameuniquesubid2

    -foldernameuniquesubid3

    mainfolder+{location3}/

    -foldernameuniquesubid1

    -foldernameuniquesubid2

    -foldernameuniquesubid3

Unfortunately like I mentioned on other thread http://www.jotform.com/answers/551335- it is not possible to achieve what you want.

If you need some more advanced form of file sharing I would suggest to you that you can write a script that will check the folders and either move or copy the files to a different folder if so needed.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

that's not a good answer -- the reason we use jot from is to avoid custom scripting -- duh.
