Downloaded Excel submission: Time with "PM" on them shows "AM" in excel

Asked by BLADEOFGRASS on April 22, 2015 at 08:44 AM

My form records beginning and ending time for jobs.  The times were clearly entered correctly because when I review the submissions, I see correct times.  Then I download the submission files and I see PM being changed to AM.

A lot of other weird things are happening with this download.  I need help!!!

The problem does not seem to be there when I download the data as CSV.

But I need the data in ExCel and I need it exactly as it has been coming down for months.

    Hi,

I understand the problem, it seems that the "PM" values in the Time field is being converted to "AM" when you download the excel version of the submissions, although in CSV it is correctly shown.

I will escalate this to our back end team so that they can further check it and have it fixed.

We apologize for the inconvenience, we will update you on this thread when we hear any news.

    Kind regards.

Just so you know, this is more than an inconvenience.  This is shattering my confidence in JotForm.  There simply is no excuse for this happening.

JotForm needs to restore the ExCel download facility to what it was yesterday.  This has never happened before.

    Hi,

Upon checking the bug report, it is still open but is already marked as "Very Important" and someone in the back end team is already assigned on it. We should hear from them when a fix has been made, unfortunately, I'm unable to provide an estimated date to when this will be resolved as this is handled by a different department. But rest assure that they are being notified already regarding this.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

A problem this serious should not take so long to have a remedy.

I will ask our developer assigned to this to update you as soon as he can with any news in regards to this issue.

Please note that when an issue is affecting a single person or even a small group it is hard to pinpoint the exact location of the issue and implement the solution that would correct this issue, while not cause issues for others.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Yes, I see that the PM's are not being changed to AM's but there are other problems with the ExCel download.  I will document in a separate message.  How could something like this have happened?

Further issues with ExCel Download.  Here is one of them.

There is a date field in my form.  Up until a few days ago, this field downloaded as a date.  I noticed that the application that reads the spreadsheet suddenly did not like format of the date field.  There were much more serious problems with the download (see above) so I focused on those.  But the date field is now being downloaded with THE DOWNLOAD TIME.  Every single record downloaded has the download time attached to the date.

Apparently the Time Field problem that you say has been fixed, has not been fixed.  I took a closer look and the times are not coming through correctly.

THIS IS DOWNRIGHT UNFORGIVABLE.  HOW IS ANYBODY GOING TO HAVE CONFIDENCE IN JOTFORM IF THIS KIND OF THING CAN HAPPEN.

Here is what the same three records look like when downloaded in the .CSV format.

    Hello,

Actually, we have realized and already opened a ticket about it here. This problem is a little bit different by nature, as it is only present in 12 AM values, and it will be studied and solved very soon.

I will be looking into the problems mentioned above. Thank you for your notification.

    Kind regards

Why would you not revert to the way things were prior to all of these problems.  I can't be the only user being affected.

    Hello sir,

As improvements might create some issues -we do our best to prevent- they also resolve many problems. In particular, the latest improvements on excel are handling date/time values and links regarding original excel cell formats -not as texts-, so that you can sort/calculate those fields when you have complex relations of cells and sheets.

So, we are very glad to take notes on your feedback to continue improving features of JotForm and to fix those collateral bugs soon as possible. It might cause issues in the short-run, however, it will stabilize quite quickly and you will use a better product at the end.

Thank you very much for helping us improving JotForm and for your understanding

I will update here when those issues are fixed.

    Kindly,

    Alp
