I have selected "Add field to equation as text by default." option but it is still calculating as numeric.Asked by Erica8629 on May 04, 2015 at 09:12 PM
This is exactly what I was looking for however "Insert Field as Text instead of Numeric" does not exist in mine. Instead it shows "Add field to equation as text by default." Which when select or not selected all data is evaluated as a numeric.
This is a re-post of a comment on How to Pass Field Value to Another Field?
I'm sorry for the trouble caused to you.
The label text was changed but it seems it was not updated in the user guide. I have sent a request for the guide to be changed appropriately.
Please be noted that this feature works as expected. You should first select the checkbox before adding the field form calculation. Please be noted that if the field name is being displayed in orange color then it will be used in calculation as numeric. If you first check the check box and then add the field for calculation, you will see the color of it as black. Please check the screenshot below:
I would suggest you to remove the calculation formula, check the check box form "Add field to equation as text by default." and then add the field in the calculation.
Do try it out and get back to us if the issue persists.
