Is there not a simple way to do a 2 column form that has columns aligned?

Do you really have to be a coding genius in order to set up a two-column form where the columns line up nicely? That's disappointing if it's true. Can anyone point me to a SIMPLE way to do a form with two columns where it doesn't look sloppy and out of whack?
