Using secure form on Joomla site without SSL

Asked by thewebdoodler on November 18, 2011 at 11:54 AM

Can I use a secure form on my Joomla site if I do not have an SSL certificate installed on the site?  I have tried using the secure link embedded in an article and using a wrapper in the menu link. The form appears, but the lock indicating the form is secure does not show up.

    Thank you.

I love JotForm by the way!

    Thank you for contacting us.

Definitely, you can use our secured forms on your site. You will not see the lock indicator because you do not have the SSL certificate installed for your domain. However, all the form data will be sent through secured SSL connection, so there is nothing to worry about.

You can also add a Security Certificate Seal to your form.

Please feel free to contact us if you need any other assistance.

I've added the seal, but what is the image link for when a user follows the pompt to "Click to Verify".

    Thank you.

Can you share with us the URL where the form is embedded? If the embedded form is using https://form.jotform.com, please change it to https://www.jotform.com.

I also would like to bring up the issue where your non-SSL page uses the SSL linked form.  If your web page where the embedded form is, is not using SSL, this will bring a lot of questions from the form users since the requested page is actually non-SSL but only with sources coming from an SSL souced site. Although, the submission will definitely be travelling to an SSL port.

I understand the difference involved with using the secured form on a non-secured site. I thought the Security Certificate Seal was to help answer the questions that users might have when using a secured form on an unsecured page.

Even if I were to include the seal on the secure form without embedding it, the seal still needs a LINK.

My question is what is the link?

    Thanks so much.
