    HI,

I'm new to JotForm and have been tinkering with it, so I have a few questions.

    1) I have a form with VOice Recorder widgets and I'm trying to embed the entire form into a Mechanical Turk survey. I copy and pasted the source code, but the VR WIdget doesn't come up. I know this has got to be an MTurk issue, but if you could just tell me if it either is supposed to work or not, it would save me a lot of time and I'll try a different tack.

    2) When a user clicks the ALLOW button on the widget the first time, they also have to click on it every subsequent instance of the VR (I have multiple VRs on the form). Is there a way to get a "Remember my decision" check box on there so they only have to click once?

    Thanks and kind regards,

    Jack

Can you let us know which method are you using to embed your form? We recommend using the iframe embed method for most cases. Can you provide the URL of your site so we can check it?

I presume that you're referring to the warning shown on the picture below, right?

If so, that would depend on the Adobe Flash Player configuration that is set on each computer. We cannot control whether this alert is shown or not from the widget.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's an Amazon Mechanical Turk survey, so it's not my site. I tried the Iframe first, but the MTurk survey only showed and Iframe placeholder. I just now tried it using the https: script embed and that seems to work. I think it's just an ssl issue with Mturk.

Yes, that's the warning. I had thought it was a JotForm tweak because I had the same pop-up on another site I tried out, and it only came up once after I checked the box. Now that I know its a browser issue, I try it out with other OSs and platforms.

    Thanks

Ok, just note that free accounts are allowed to receive 10 SSL submissions per month. So, if you're planning on receiving more than 10 monthly submissions using HTTPS you might need to consider on upgrading your plan.

    Hi,

I have a follow up to the permissions problem. I've tried it on several browsers and platforms, with security wide open, and it still asks for permission every time you click a new record. The first time, it asks twice -  once with the pop up on the record, and then again for the browser, and then after that, it's only the once for each new recording. I tried out a similar feature on a test site called form fill, and that has the same initial pop up box, but there's a check box on the pop up that says "Always Allow", which is what you don't have on the recorder widget here. Thus, on that test site, you only have to click once and then make as many recordings as you want, but on JotForm, the user has to click Allow for every new instance of a recording. So if I have 10 record widgets, they have to allow it 10 times.

Again, I'm pretty sure it's not a browser or OS issue, and it may be that the widget needs to have that "Always Allow" coded into it. Your thoughts are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jack

    Hello Jack,

Please check the screenshot below and see if this is the two popup you see asking for permission:

I do believe that it is actually a normal behavior where widget is asking for permission to use your camera/microphone. Once you allow that and since it is embedded in a webpage, browser is also asking for permission for the same. In first instance, if you allow permission to browser, it will not ask again but widget will continue to as for permissions as it is accessing your hardware device.

Do get back to us if you think it otherwise and we can anytime share your thoughts with our back end team and ask for more clarity on this.

    Thank you!

Yes, that's right. I get the two, and the browser popup doesn't return after I allow, only the subsequent recorder auth boxes. I suppose that's just how it is.

Unfortunate, because if you have a lot of recordings to make (and I do) then the user has to authorize every time a new instance of the widget is clicked.

With there apparently being a greater demand for voice-filled questionnaires, maybe it'll be worked out in the future.

    Thanks and kind regards,
