How to increase the limit and add colors to charts on Visual Reports

Asked by esteel on June 08, 2015 at 11:55 AM

On our community feedback form, question three is a check box question. When using visual report builder for this question if shows the first 5 selections but none of the other selections show. I also cannot change the settings on the chart to change colors. It appears to lump the other selections into an "Other" category.

    Please advise.

The Visual Report builder has some limitations on it. Actually it is used to create graphs, pie charts and the likes. But not fully customize. You can check our guide here: http://www.jotform.com/help/187-How-to-Create-a-Visual-Report-with-your-Form-Submissions.

If you are looking for when creating a report with more options and more ways to analyze available data, I would recommend that you to use integrate Google Spreadsheet.

The good thing on it is that it will load all the submissions of your form automatically. After that, you can create graphs and charts directly there, every time that a new submission is received, the charts or graphs should automatically update. Custom functions and formulas could also be inserted there.

    I hope this information helps.

I have the data integrated into google sheets but it does not allow me to create charts because it is not a form. Is there a step I am missing so it recognizes this data? Technically the question is a check box with ability to choose multiple answers. Could this be the problem with the report builder?

I would recommend that once you are on the Visual Report page, delete the charts initially created for you. Then, create a new one so the color option in the configuration will show.

By default, the bars shown on the Visual Report is just 5. You can increase that by:

    Then update the color by:

Note: The color is only applicable with Pie and Pie 2 charts.

I understand that the whole Configuration drop-down doesn't show, So I would recommend that when opening the Configuration, adjust the Visual Report height so all options of the configuration will show completely.

As for the Google Spreadsheet, you will only need the submissions to create a chart on Google Spreadsheet. and when you integrate your form with Google Spreadsheets, Google Spreadsheet has your submission reports and will automatically be updated when form submitters submit your form. You may try to use this guide and " rel="nofollow">video tutorial from Youtube:

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any further questions and we will be glad to help you. Thank you.
