    Hi

i dont get the idea of ftp upload. why are the filename named after the folder if i choose to make a folder based on a textboxs value ? why can i not choose what the file should be named by a textbox value ?  if i choose to make a folder from a textbox value it will make a folder with one file in it, every time i write a new number. if i then write the same nr in the textbox, it wil overwrite the old file

is there a soulotion on this

i will have it to do following:

make a folder and name it a value from a textbox  ex. 1234

then named the file which is uploaded to ftp in folder 1234 to ex a unique ID ex 12

I see your point but the folder name has 2 pre-set options which is no folder or using Submission ID. With Submission ID, as it is a unique number no overwrite will happen.

Then you have customized options which is to name the folder according to a field, but this field needs to be unique, like a Unique ID field, ID, email address,...

This custom option is not supposed to be used with fields that will repeat themselves on different submissions:

But please let us know which form and which fields you would like to use so we can see if it is possible.

why will i choose submission ID, then it just creates a folder (submissionID) and make a file named (submission ID) . then there can only be one file in eatch folder else it will overwrite the file. So you have alot of folders with one file in each??. and if i choose no folder , the file just get in root with the submission ID and i then can't hold track on it

I want the value in A to set which folder.

and the B to set the file name

then if make multipli submissions with the same nr in A the files will be placed in the same folder, but with different names (B)

C: if there then was a field were you could choose what value the filename should be named after?

Unfortunately I could not find a solution for this request so I'm creating a feature request so our developers can consider its implementation. We'll contact you as soon as we have more details.

The other upload integrations we have create different folders for each submission so that if several users upload a file with the same name they don't get overwritten. Even if our developers decide on the implementation of this feature that can be an issue, as there is no way to control the uploaded files' names.

Let us know if we can assist you further.

    Hi

    thank you for you answer.

"Even if our developers decide on the implementation of this feature that can be an issue, as there is no way to control the uploaded files' names."

but now the filename is called the same as the folder name? or else i don't get the last part you have written :)

    Hello.

My colleague Carina is warning you about any attached files, that are uploaded - How-to-create-upload-forms.

There is no way for us to control the filenames of files that users would be submitting through the form, so even if we implemented the option to select folder name (with value A) and file name of the PDF submissions (with value B), any other files that are uploaded within the submission would also be placed in exactly the same folder.

So if two people would both upload / attach a file named image.jpg in their submissions, and they both have chosen the same value A (folder), the second image.jpg would be placed in the same folder as the first one - and therefore it would overwrite the first file named image.jpg. Even if option B allows you to rename the PDF of your submissions, there would be a great probability of data loss when it comes to uploadable files that your users can upload in their submissions.

I hope that this helps, please let us know if you need  further clarification.

    Hi

    thanks for your explanation

it is not so important if the file the user upload throught the form is overwritten, it is more important that the uploaded pdf submission is not overwritten.

i also think, if the the file there is uplaoded through the form, is a image jpg, the image will still be visible ind the uplaoded  pdf submission, though it overwrite the image file.?
