How to change the font color when the form tells me a field is required?

Hello,

My attached form has a blue background and white font.  When a field is highlighted the background turns red, so you can still read the white font.  However, when a required field isn't fully filled out the form highlights it with a white background, and thus you can no longer read the white font - how can i either change the background in that situation or change the font color to black in that situation?
