Domain Checker for our Form?Asked by Tyler Turner on July 06, 2015 at 09:13 PM
I have searched the app and widgets but cannot find what I assumed would be an obvious function. We work with clients who are in the process of building a website. We would like to be able to ask them to enter a domain and do a check for it right then, to give them the feedback on whether it is open or not. Thats it, we don't need to purchase it at that point.
Thank you for directing me to a solution, if one exists.

You can add Domain Whois Widget to your form.

I am afraid you did not fully understand what I was asking for. Round 2, GO!
I want a client to be able to see if a domain is registered, in a VERY simple "yes" or "no" type format. This is for the end user, who will not understand why so much whois information is being presented.
I'm afraid that we do not have a feature that you are describing at this time. However, I would suggest that you ask your customers to enter several of their choices in the order of their preference, and you can check the availability of their selected domains for them.
Alternatively, you may want to try using our Check_Domain_Name_IP widget, which is much simpler. Then you could add a text field underneath that tells your customers to select a domain name that doesn't have any IP address.
It is not perfect, but it offers a much simpler experience to the end user. It will allow you to have your customers only pick out domains which don't have any IP resolved to them, which should let you rule out most paid/used domains.
I hope this helps, and that Domain IP checking combined with asking your users for their several favorite picks, is something that can work for your needs.
I've just added a new widget, called "Simple Domain Checker"
Your clients can use it in a simple way.
