Is there any chance you would consider a feature enhancement that many of my customers ask about? It would be so helpful if the administrator could choose a default sort order for the report. I serve a community of older adults and you might be surprised to learn how many people do not just know they can sort by clicking on a column heading. Reminding them is not much help. We're old. We forget.
In the example for which I provided the url, it would be fantastic if the report were already sorted by Category when a user opens the report.

You can use the visual report builder, then add the grid display, this grid gives you the option to select column to sort by
