    Hi there,

We currently use a form to collect lead information.

Due to the lack of room on the form location we use the Full Name field which is fine.

However, I would like to add two extra hidden fields

    First Name

    Surname

I would like Jotform to use logic to identify the space as a delimiter between the First name Surname. I would like it to copy the text before the space into the hidden First Name field. I would like it to recognise after the space the text is copied into the Surname hidden field.

    Example

FULL NAME: JAMES(uses the space as a delimiter)SMITH

    First Name: James

    Surname: Smith

It's a similar function to the excel Text to Column; however I need this action to complete at the JotForm stage as it needs to be completed before an integration passes the information over to another system which uses only First Name & Surname

    Can you please assist?

I'm afraid that we don't have a split value function at this time, and implementing it would require getting the source code of your form and implementing the javascript function manually.

Instead, it might be best to try and use our Full Name field under Quick Tools:

It is a single field with two inputs for first and last name. If the name of that field is, for example, {fullName}, you can get just the first or last name by using {fullName:first} and {fullName:last} in your email notifications.

You can read more about getting sub-sections of the Full Name field in this post by our colleague: http://www.jotform.com/answers/18852-What-is-the-field-name-for-first-name

If this will not work for your use case, you can also create two separate fields in your form, to ask only the first name and only the last name.

    I hope this helps.
