Facebook Call to Action: Encountered error when using jotform.co domain in link

Asked by LARCW on July 24, 2015 at 12:42 AM

    Hi Guys,

Facebook's new "call to action" button could be a new way to direct potential sales leads to complete my embeded JotForm.

I have successfully created and embeded my JotForm in my FB Business page as a tab. Was pretty easy and it's a credit to your development effort. It was a straight forward process.

Within FB I have used my JotForm URL as the link that is followed when a customer clicks the "Call to Action" button.

When I click this link to test it from Chrome/Firefox on my PC, no problem. Takes me straight to the JotForm. No issues.

If I try the same process from my mobile device

    Something went wrong
Sorry but there was a problem with this link
    http://form.jotform.co/form/52032997500857
You can now continue to this website or go back to the page you were on before. Remember: Only follow links from sources you trust.

There is already a facebook support thread with this issue

    https://www.facebook.com/help/community/question/?id=1420212481609197

I've completed the steps to review the page through the FB debug tool and here is the error I receive.

Given that custom tab's aren't supported on the FB Mobile App, yet that's where my customers are, what to do to make this link work?

    Hope you can help.

    Oli

    Hi LARCW,

    Thanks for contacting us.

I tried to access your Facebook page in an android device. However, when I clicked the Sign Up (your call to action button), it redirects me to your website - http://www.localappliancerentals.com.au/? I tried creating a call to action that redirects to JotForm on one of my Facebook pages and it works fine for me. Have you set up the Mobile Website setting of the call to action to redirect to the form? See screenshot below.

We will wait for your response.

    Regards.

    Hi LARCW,

After further checking, I see that you have embedded your form in your website. I accessed your Facebook page and clicked on the Call to Action button and it is working fine on my end.

    Hi Chriistian,

Out of necessity I had to change away from using JotForm and redirect back to a central website that is not controlled by me but by a head office.

I will change (give me a few minutes) FB back to JotForm and leave it  until you have tested this.

Thanks so much for the speedy reply.

    Hi Chriistian,

All changed back to my JotForm URL. Tested from my ipad. Same error as before.

I can click the button "Follow Link" and it takes me to my form however I think my potential leads wont bother and I'll have a very high fail rate should this occur.

    Hi LARCW,

I checked your Facebook page using my PC and I was able to replicate the issue you are reporting. See screenshot below.

Can you try using this link - http://www.jotform.co/form/52032997500857 instead of http://form.jotform.co/form/52032997500857 and see if it works?

We will wait for your response.

    Hi Chriistian,

I have adjusted the link. I cut and paste into FB.

    1. Tested on iPad. Worked fine.

    2. Tested on iPhone. Error with the new web link.

    3. Went back and tested again on iPad, Error with the new web link.

    Hi LARCW,

I think the problem might be on the jotform.co domain. When I tried it on my Facebook page, I also encountered the issue. However, when I tried it with a different JotForm domain (i.e. jotformpro.com) it is working fine. I will escalate this issue to our development team. For now, you can change back the Call to Action URL to redirect to your website while we investigate further the issue. We will inform you on this thread any updates on this issue.

Do let us know if you need further assistance.

    Regards.

    Hi Oli,

I've added correct meta tags(title and url) to our forms. Now, you can give direct link to jotform.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi Deniz,

I have tried this just then and still the same error when testing from my iPhone. FYI, I shortened the URL using the JotForm shortening process within the Embed functionality. Could that have caused the error?

I will leave the URL in place so you can visit our Facebook page and click the "shop now" link. See if you get the same error from a mobile device.

    Thanks for the help

I checked your Facebook page and I still encountered the issue. I also tried it in my facebook page using www.jotform.co url only and still I encountered the error. I will follow up this on our development team for them to further investigate the issue. We will inform you on this thread any updates on this.

    Hi Oli,

We need to wait Facebook cache clear for now.

As you see facebook cache still show warning when you show existing scrape information from debugger :

Bu when you try to fetch new scrape information, the errors have been gone:

Hope this problem will be fixed in a few hours when Facebook cache cleared.

    Thanks and Regards.

    Hi Oliver,

As I mentioned you before, I have corrected our meta tags for Facebook. Our forms pass their debugger, but Facebook marked some our domains as suspicious (such as jotform.co, jotform.us, etc). I have opened a thread on Facebook to fix this problem. We are waiting their response for now.

    Thank you for patience.

Thank you so much. I want JotForm to be the start of my sales lead enquiry
process and this FB integration is crucial.
    Many thanks.

    Hi Oliver,

I suggest for now, you can change back the Call to Action URL to redirect to your website, which is working fine, while Facebook removes us to their suspicious list.

    Thanks.

Is there an opportunity to escalate issues at facebook?

    Hi,

I tried to add a call to action button on one of my Facebook page with your form - http://form.jotform.co/form/52032997500857 and it seems that the issue is fixed now.

When I click on the Call to Action button in my page, I was redirected to the form. No warning message was displayed. I also tried to access your Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/LocalApplianceRentalsCentralWest and the Call to Action button is now working fine.

Can you try it again and check if it is working now on your end?

We will wait for your response.
