Form edits are appearing on a form that was already submitted.

I've edited a form, and the changes are appearing on a form that was already submitted. I would of course want a form that was already submitted to be "locked" so that nothing can be modified.

    Hi,

I believe you are referring to the submissions of the form? You are editing the submission and not the form itself?

In the submissions page, you can edit a submission.

You can also edit it using the edit link if you have attached it in your email notification:

If you are editing submissions, it will actually update or edit it, which means modifying or changing the existing values of that submission. To make a new submission, you can open the form again, fill it out and click the submit button.

Please let me know if I misunderstood your concern, if that's the case, please provide us more details of it.

    Hi.

I actually want to edit the *original* form.

I created a form and sent it to someone to complete. He did, then submitted it. Now I want to make revisions to the *original* form before I send it to another recipient. I do *not* want to the edit any part of the form that has already been completed and submitted.

What is happening is that after I make changes to the original (master) form, then view the form that was already submitted, the changes that I made are appearing on that submitted form, which I don't want.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

The form is the medium to collect information. When a submission has been made, they will be displayed the same format or content of what the current form looks like. This means when you open a submission in edit mode, it will load the most up to date form.

Here's an example of what I meant.

    1. First, I created a form with only full name and email field.

    2. I then made a test submission, this is how it looks like in my submissions page.

    3. Now I then edited the form and added an address field.

    4. I then open the existing submission I have in edit mode, you'll notice that the address field now shows it.

That is how the form works. If you want, you can copy/clone your form and edit that instead. Use the revised version of that form to a different client. Here's a guide on how to clone a form: http://www.jotform.com/help/27-How-to-clone-an-existing-form-from-your-account

    I hope that helped.
