Is there a way for an option on a drop down to be removed or unavailable after picked

I have a drop down option that allows people to choose a task.  I'd like that task to be removed or become unavailable once one person has chosen it, as I only need 1 person per task. 

Is there a way to do that automatically? Or do I have to manually go in and edit the form every time.

Though we do not have a dropdown capable of this, we do have a few widgets that can allow for only a certain amount of each item to be selected.  Once the total is reached, the option will not longer be available.  Here are those widgets:

All of which are slightly different but can be configured to do exactly what you are looking for.  Just set the quantity available to "1".
