    Email Notification with over 250 questions fails to send all fields

    http://form.jotform.com/form/13084329175  The form works well EXCEPT my customer wants more than 250 questions on one form. The form will capture all responses and they are found in the submission. However they want the Notification email to list all questions and answers. When I create a new email notification all fields are included. If I go back to make any change to the notification email many of the fields will no longer be listed. The default layout of the notification needs to be altered by enlarging the Question fields and reducting the default font size. When I make these changes then some of the fields are no longer on the notification email. I thought to download the submission to a data base but MS Access fails with "too many fields". It will all download into an Excel spreadsheet but the sheet is pages wide. I tried using notepad to change the layour of the comma delimited file downloaded but the contents are the questions listed first and then all the answers. Is there any simple solution to this problem? Can a form with many questions be split in two, i.e. send the first half and then send the second half seperately. Thanks for any help.

    I have done a test with a clone of your form and dont see any obvious fields missing.

    Is the fields that go missing random? i.e not at the end?

    Have you tried sending setting the email notifcation as 'Text Mode' ? 


    Whats the exact issue with Excel? I feel presenting the results of a 250 question form is always going be unweildy.


    You could probably split the form into two different forms and send notifications for each, but I think that should be a last solution of last resort.

    When I create the Notification Email it includes all of the fields. The problem comes when changing the "Questions" column width, as teh questions are far longer than the answer for nearly all questions. Also in an effort to reduce the number of printed pages the font should be smaller. When I make these two changes fields from the Notification Email will "disappear" from the end of the email. I do not know under how to add them back. I tried double clicking, draging, and any other option that look like it might work but cannot get the fields back in the email.

    I really appreciate the time you have taken to investigate this for me.

    Are you trying to set up email notification like the following one? I can see all the 250+ fields here.

    Is this issue is related to missing fields in your Notification at www.jotform.com or missing fields in email notifications that you are receiving?

    The issue is related to missing fields in our Notification at www.jotform.com. When I first create the Notification I can see all fileds and if I send a test email all fields are present. However when I change the first column in the table as you have above and also change the font to a smaller size, click finish button and save the survey, and then go back to the Notification almost every time some of the fields are missing at the end of the form. The amount varies but at least 50 questions are missing. I do see the fields on the page shown in your example above but can not figure out how to get them back on the Notification. All of the fields are present on the "submission page so the data is not "lost". It just does not stay on the Notification for some reason.

    More information. I used the TEXT mode and all fields remain in the email, even after making many changes and logging off and then back on to jotform.com. So the issue I am having is with the HTML version of the notification email. It may the the way I am trying to widen column 1 and narrow column column 2. How should I accomplish this?

    OK, its good to hear that some progress has been made.

    I feel the reason it is working in TEXT mode but not HTML is the amount of data you are trying transfer. HTML has extra overheads. 

    Is there no way you can make the TEXT only notification work ? I see it as the only reasonable solution here.

    FOUND SOLUTION! I did not click correctly on the "HTML" link at the top of the edit page. When I did the HTML behind the Notification was exposed and I copied the html code out to notepad, adjusted the columns and alignment, then copied back to JotForm and saved. The Notification email works correctly and I can edit it to my hearts content without loosing any information or fields (at least as much as I have done in testing).

    So the problem is solved.

    One more question: What does "Cleanup messy code" do?

    To be entirely honest, I am not sure what that 'Cleanup Messy Code' option does. I would assume its to strip out unnecessary HTML tags. I think since you have managed to get the email notification working as you wish, you may be best advised to leave it alone! 

    I will forward that query onto someone who should definately know. 

    Its good to hear you found a solution, and even better that you shared it with us. A 250+ question form is a bit extreme and its great to be aware of a method of getting all the fields to show on an (self-edited) HTML email notification should a similar issue ever crop up again. Thanks for that.

    I have tracked down what is causing my problem. When ever I click on the "Reply-To and Receipient Settings" after working on the form to add additional email receipientants the form will lose a lot of fields and an unusual HTML line will be visible at the top of the form. I can solve this easily by pasting the html from my notepad copy.

    The problem is caused by "Reply-To and Receipient Settings" being selected and additional emails added.
