Add Secure FTP or SFTP option to transfer SubmissionsAsked by BBIE on August 12, 2015 at 07:16 AM
I asked about the possibility of transferring messages and attachments through a secure FTP connection a while ago. It was then not possible.
I saw other requests about a secure FTP connection on the forum (dating somewhere in 2014) and your answer was that you were considering it somewhere in the future.
Can you update me about that? Is this possible now?
I noticed that when setting a FTP server Jotform asks if this must go through a secure connection. But that's not really what we are looking for. This solves a part of the problem only.
What we would like is to get the documents on port 22 instead of 21.
Many thanks and go on with the good job you are doing.
Could you share us the thread links where you asked about the FTP and the ones dated back in 2014 so I can check it in our end.
Regarding the FTP, you can check this guide: https://www.jotform.com/help/177-How-to-Enable-FTP-on-Form-Submissions. From what I understand, you can set your own port to where the files can be sent to your FTP server to make it more secure.
If you want to make the actual transfer secure, I believe the SSL link should work. Here's a guide for that: https://www.jotform.com/help/63-How-can-I-receive-SSL-Submissions
We'll wait for your response.
Thanks for your quick reply.
I do not know how I can add a link to one of the topics regarding SFTP... A simple search in the forum with SFTP as keyword will show you some of them.
We are currently in a process to add the Jotform messages and attachments into our electronic archive. We are setting up our FTP server for that purpose right now. We will test it in the coming days.
Of course our system administrators asked for a SFTP connection, and this is why I asked you this question.
I am aware of the SSL link. All our current forms use this currently.
FTP will be a new way for us to gather the documents. Do you think that just changing the port will make the FTP connection a SFTP one? (I am not an expert on that matter...)
I've checked other links and I see there are some feature request for SFTP option. Currently, that feature is still in the request list, but I will forward this this thread as a feature request so that our developers will be aware that you are also looking for this feature.
Regarding the port, our back end team made it more flexible for you to use a different port, in case you want to use a port that is not commonly used, but SFTP is still not available in our end.
We will update you on this thread when we hear any news regarding the feature request.
Thank you for understanding.
For us to escalate your request, I went ahead an opened a separate thread, please refer to this link instead: http://www.jotform.com/answers/644180. We will address it shortly.
