How to get edit link from the beginning?

I have a form that I want to send out to customers.

It is expected that the customers will come back to change or update the information at a later date.

I understand that there is an {edit link} option in the autoresponder email.

This basically is a URL which has the form ID and the session ID.

What I really want to do is have the edit link from the very start, as in that is the first link that I submit to customer for them to fill the form out in the first instance. That way they only ever have one link and they don't erroneously go back and fill out a new form.

I could perhaps get around this by starting a new blank form and saving it, getting the edit link, then passing this on to the customer. However that's obviously quite laborious.

Is there any function where I can simply generate a new session ID or edit link for a blank form and be able to send that in an email for our customers?

This would allow us to track customers a bit easier since they would all have a unique session ID.

    Michael,

I hate to say this but it is not possible to generate an edit link for a non-existing submission. An edit link must have a submission ID, something that can only be generated once the form is submitted.

So if I open a new form, submit it without any data, generate an edit link, I could hand that out to clients. The edit link would be constant wouldn't it? (as in a new one wouldn't be generated for each edit?)

This would obviously cause problems with required fields.

But I could probably automate a script to do it for me nonetheless.

    Thanks for your help.
