    complex calculator

Asked by nk  on August 18, 2015 at 03:25 AM

Hi i am trying to build a calculator form for costs of transferring a property.

it is going to be quite a complex task and im not sure if this will be achievable here.

an example is the best way to describe what im doing.

Lets say the property is worth $x.  that is something the client will enter, the rest of the field i want them to be populated automatically from a spreadsheed of data i will put in before hand.

There are some default values and i have used the "default" value option, however for other fields the amount charged varies as the purchase price of the property varies.

    eg:

so if the property is worth 10 000, the govt tax levied will be $150

or if the property is worth 15 000, the govt tax will be $175

(its the tax that i will make a spreadsheet off.)

so i want the client to only enter the purchase price and the rest of the fields will be populated automatically.

finally, will the form automatically calculate for me?

P.s. an exact example of what i want is here http://www.legalcity.net/Index.cfm?fuseaction=tools.conveyancing

    thanks for feedback

    Hi nk,

Lets say the property is worth $x.  that is something the client will enter, the rest of the field i want them to be populated automatically from a spreadsheed of data i will put in before hand.

It is not possible to automatically update fields from spreadsheet data in your form. You can however use that data and create conditions to populate a field with a certain value once a value has been entered.

    eg:

so if the property is worth 10 000, the govt tax levied will be $150

or if the property is worth 15 000, the govt tax will be $175

    1. Select Conditions on your toolbar:

    2. Select Update Form Field Condition:

    3. Create Conditions:

If it is within a specific range, you can use greater than and less than, instead of equal to to create the range.

You would create conditions like this to match the data on your spreadsheet.

finally, will the form automatically calculate for me?

You can used our form calculation widget. You would select for all the fields to be added together within the widget and your total will be automatically calculated. I am seeing that you have already used this on your form.

I created a clone version of your form and created the govt tax exampled. You can view that form here: http://support.jotform.com/form/52294027468965

    Thank you so much.

This is actually quite brilliant, and works great for me.
