Submission page: Adding notes, without needing hidden form fields and editing submissions

    Are there any updates planned for the backend of your program? the submissions grid is extremely limited in function and downloading the information to an excel spreadsheet doesn't solve the issues bc any new forms received after the download are obviously not included. My specific concerns include the limited number of columns that can be viewed at a time. I also would like to add info (like office notes) as forms come in. I am currently using the hidden form field work about, but this is not time efficient and I consistently have issues with the hidden fields displaying out of order on the form when I edit a response with the info for the custom field. I know you developed tools to import forms that former adobe forms central users used to import the forms. It would be great if you could also evolve your software to adopt some of the features of that program's back end that were really great.

    Thanks,

    Pam

    If I understand you correctly, you would like to have the ability to add your hidden notes to each submission, without having to use a hidden field on that form and edit your submissions in order to attach the notes.

    If this is correct, please let us know, and I can raise it to our developers as a feature request for possible implementation in the future. We can't offer any estimates on when or if it might be implemented, but it would get on our developers radar and would be tended to according to the workload of our developers.

    Until such time that this feature would be implemented, and if you don't like to edit submissions to enter this information directly on the form, I would like to let you know that you can also integrate your form with a Google Spreadsheet, which would be automatically updated when new submissions occur.

    Then you can use the Import Range function to have your own spreadsheet populate itself with data from that integrated spreadsheet, and make notes in your own spreadsheet.

    This is a workaround much like the one with a hidden field and editing submissions, but this one allows you to have an updated excel file with notes in it.

    Please let us know if I have understood your request, and if you would like us to raise it to our developers as such, and we will be happy to do so. Thank you.

    Yes, you did understand me correctly. If you could present to the developers, that would be great. Thanks for the work around, I will see if it does what I need. It sounds like it will.

    Thank you for your confirmation, Pam. I am forwarding this thread as a feature request to our developers.

    As said above, we can't give any promises or estimates on when or if it would be worked on, but if it does get implemented, we will be sure to let you know through this thread.

    Thank you.

    Hi Boris -

    I would like to echo Pam's request for the ability to add fields that we can edit. In AdobeFormsCentral we could add fields and change submissions as needed - for example, we would add a field for our notes or several fields for other purposes, or when a registrant had provided the wrong email address then we could go in and make the changes on the form.

    I'll look into the Google Spreadsheet option as well but it would be nice to have a more user-friendly data interface on JotForm itself.

    Let me add to this request.  The addition of this feature may positively influence our decision to subscribe.

    Thanks for looking into it.

    @Curt Rode

    Thank you for letting us know.

    A feature request ticket had been submitted already.

    Our developer will provide update on this thread once available.

    @Curt Rode

    @dohafamily

    I've used the integration with google sheets (GS) and although it is better than the grid on the submissions page and super easy to add to any form, unfortunately, there are known issues with it and for no apparent reason, data from fields stop being delivered to the GS. I also find the features of GS far limited compared to excel so it would really make sense to upgrade your back end into something that allows meaningful interaction, easy editing of the fields, etc. Forms Central really got that feature right.

    Thanks for escalating this issue.

    Thank you for the update Pam.

    In some cases the syncing of data may fail between the form and the spreadsheets, a re-integration usually resolves the issue.

    The feature request ticket has already been forwarded to our development team but we haven't received any updates regarding it, If there is any new information you will be updated via this thread.

    Thank your, Sammy. However, a re-integration, I believe, will then assign a new address to the Google sheet which has to be shared w those who need access to it. Less than ideal.
