Content disappears when user encounters an error when submitting

Hi, I have now had at least 2 people getting frustrated and emailing me their form content directly because all of their content disappears when they went to submit.  Apparently if there is an issue, (maybe missing something required, etc) and they have to go back, then all of their content goes away and they are faced with starting all over again.  We really can't afford to get our clients angry. Is there some way to fix this?

"I used the form on an apple Mac and it wouldn't save any details. If there was one problem after pressing submit, everything would be erased."

"the online form is not working efficiently. It will not save the files and keeps deleting the whole form and then I must re-enter all of the details which has required a lengthy time (apologies, I just did it for a third time there and it happened again when I went to change something)"

    Thank you!

    M

If I understood you correctly when they submit your form there is an error that all fields are not populated and that they have to go back. And then all data that they have entered is gone.

I have tested your form https://www.jotform.com/51605436579159 and I was not able to reproduce mentioned issue. I got redirected to Thank you page when I submitted the form.

Can you please provide us ID of that form so that we can test it?

Also I can suggest you to enable Auto Fill feature on your form. Auto fill method is based on browser local storage. It is saving the form data on users browser, so user can open the form later and he/she will see the past data. Note - user will need to use same browser to access data.

Inside of this guide you can find out How to Enable Auto Fill Feature.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Hi.  Here is the formID=51605436579159.

I will add the auto fill feature.

Please let me know if you see anything.

    Thank you!

That is the form I tested. When I submitted your form I got redirected to Thank you page.

Did you maybe embedded your form to website? If so please provide us URL of your website so that we can test your form there.

Enabling Auto Fill Feature will prevent that your users lose data that they have entered inside of your form if the same issue happens again.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Hi- No it has not been embedded on a website. I merely send a secure link out to our group.  Did you happen to test by filling out some information but leaving say one or two required fields blank, then clicking "submit" to see if when it returns an error, if the information you entered goes away?  That was the issue with those who contacted me.

I haven't enabled Auto fill on that form yet, just for testing purposes, but I will.

    Thanks.

I've tried cloning your JotForm to my account and I didn't see any issue with it. Since it seems to be having more input fields, as already suggested it would be helpful if you can enable auto-fill feature on the form.

    http://www.jotform.com/help/227-How-to-Enable-Auto-Fill-Feature

Please be noted that the entries in the text field can be stored in the browser storage. Any files attached to the form cannot be retrieved and needs to be attached again if the form is closed.

When the form is submitted without filling the required fields, it displays an error as shown below and cannot proceed to submit the form. But, it will not clear the input information. If the browser back button is used then the information will be lost. In such cases, Auto-fill feature can help in saving the information.

    Hope this information helps!
