    Trouble with a checkbox

Asked by mmeyers on January 04, 2012 at 02:09 PM

I am having trouble adding a checkbox with a text description but no text next to the box that is unchecked by default. Do I need to provide a yes and no option? I just wnat one checkfield unchecked next to the question.

I got it to work adding the question to the option field, but when I test the form, the checkbox comes through in the email submission even if it wasn't checked.

To help us better understand your query, can you please link us to or provide the ID of the form you have been working on?

    Thanks.

the last 2 questions should be unchecked with only one choice. I'm sure I've done this before this way, but now it's throwing in 3 blank options!

Can you try setting the properties of your checkboxes like this?

Using that special code for a space may well help prevent your checkbox options automatically repopulating when it finds no text for the option you have configured.

Let me know if that helps, there may be other workarounds, but this is the most simple.

That fixed the issue with the blank fields. but when I test it with one box checked, the email recieved just has the quetsion and no answer. I guess I'll have to use a yes no, with no preselected.

Let me know if there is an easier way to do it.

I have another idea with some Custom CSS that should work.

We are quite busy here at moment, so if I'd appreciate your patience whilst we work back round to your issue.

I have seen the changes you have made your form.

If you added the following Custom CSS to your form, you should get something very close to the functionality you are looking for.

    ---

To add the Custom CSS, go to Preferences from the Setup & Embed toolbar, then the Form Styles tab, in the Inject Custom CSS text field place the following:

    #input_28_0 + label, #input_28_1, #input_28_1 + label, #input_25_0 + label, #input_25_1, #input_25_1 + label  {display:none !important;}

Here is a cloned version of your form showing this change:

    http://www.jotform.com/form/20032121893

(that form is submitting to my own email address)

In your email notifications, if the checkboxes beside

'I would like to be contacted by a Sales representative'

    and

I would like to receive additional safety information by email.

are checked, a yes will be shown beside the question, otherwise the question will be left blank.

You have nothing to lose by seeing the result by adding and removing the Custom CSS provided above to see the differences it makes to your form.
