Can I collect credit card details securely without using a payment processor?

Asked by Chris Wentworth on January 04, 2012 at 04:07 PM

I just want to provide my customers with a secure method to send me their credit card details online without contracting with a payment processor. Is the security built into JotForm strong enough to protect that info?

You can enable SSL on the forms so that the data submitted is sent to you securely however once it is saved on our servers it is no longer encrypted. Credit Card information is sensitive and needs to be protected at all times. For this reason we do not recommend this approach you will be doing it on your own risk.

Here are some additional suggestions to increase the security of your data:

Just wondering if this is still the same or have there been new options introduced to make collecting of credit card details secure?

I always have to call my customers to collect their details as its the safest way but i would love to be able to set up an easy to use form for customers to complete and submit safely.

No widgets or anything like that in the works that would help in this regard?

May we request you to post your question to a separate thread so we can assist you further.

I'm sorry but this thread is way to old so it might confused other users.

    Thanks for your understanding.
