    Fillable PDF: Gray parts on some fields and spacing between the image at the bottom is quite large

    Asked by shardwick on September 16, 2015 at 04:11 AM

    Hello, thanks again for your help with this. Part of my problem is this....do you see the gray lines on each side of the page? Do you see how much room is below the school name & logo/title? I was hoping to eliminate some of that. One bc it's too much room and looks bad & two to make the form not so long. I guess there is no way to get it on 1 page and it look decent? Also not centered on the page. This is 50% enlarged in a PDF file.

    Hi again,

    There are styles in your online form that may not be properly displaying in the fillable PDF version of the form, to learn more about the limitations, please refer to this guide: http://www.jotform.com/help/312-Fillable-PDF-Everything-you-need-to-know-about-JotForm-Fillable-PDF-Creator

    Regarding the styling, I cloned your form and I was able to see the difference

    Would you like to have a fillable version of the form? Or just a hard copy that can be printed? If you would just like to print it as a hard copy and not a fillable, then we can print it as it is by following the steps below:

    1. View the online form in a Chrome browser

    2. Right click and choose "Print" or just press CRTL+P, you can also add a print button by following this guide: http://www.jotform.com/help/24-Print-Button-on-Forms

    We can further edit this and apply the styling that we like, just let us know.

    If you would like to edit the fillable PDF version, unfortunately, it is possible right now as this is automatically generated at the back end. But I will forward the problems you mentioned to our developers to have it checked and make improvements. We will update you directly on this thread when we hear any news.

    Apologies for the inconvenience.

    Can you make those gray lines go away? I need to leave 1 one hour!!!

    YES! I would love for you to edit this form further to make it look the best it can. Again, we are using hard copies at first. We may use electronic later, but I just need it to print nice for now. Preferably 1 page, but I understand if not. We have the first visits tomorrow morning, but need to show everyone the form this morning in the meeting!

    Hi,

    I clone your latest form and made edits on it, I adjusted the form and removed the gray part on the main page, I then added some page breaks on the CSS. You can download the hard copy PDF here: https://shots.jotform.com/charlie/Clone%20of%20Clone%20of%20Clone%20of%20POPCS%20Cafeteria%20Committee%20Food%20Service%20Form%20(clone%20version).pdf

    Is that the hard copy you would like to have? Let us know if you need adjustments on it.

    Can both forms be consolidated to one page? There is so much extra space & lines on the form. We don't need any of it. The header can even be reduced. I guess that is recreating a form? I'll do whatever I need to do, we need the forms for tomorrow's visits!!!

    Hi,

    You might need to edit the form itself. You can change the font size, line spacing and the image above for this. You can clone the current form you have and have a version of the form dedicated only for a hard copy. You can use the Form Designer Tool for this adjustments.

    Let me make edits on my end and will get back to you with a one page form. But you can also continue editing your form.

    Hi,

    I'm having a hard time to squeeze all of the questions in one page. I would advise cloning the form and create a version of it that is all squeeze on one page.

    I would also like to advise that your question 3-9 be put in one Matrix field to lessen the space, I think one matrix field on it should work because they have all the same column selections. Here's a form with using one matrix field: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/52584287438972?. Open the form in a Chrome browser and press CTRL+P or right click and choose "Print". You'll see that it's in one page.

    I hope that helps.

    Ok, I just got home from the meeting and will have a few additions. So how about we make it a two page form and I'll just print front and back. Is that easier? I'm sorry and i just saw the above link. Looks good, but can the header with the title be any smaller? It takes up so much room! I am good with it being minimized. Thank you so much!!!

    I am also not sure what you mean when you say to create a version of the from that is all squeezed together. If we can't do it now, how would we be able to by cloning and creating another version?

    Did you see where I said it can be 2 pages bc I need to add items anyway? Can you please help me with that? I'm adding the info. now.

    Please don't go dark on me, I so need ya'lls help with this. If I had known, I would have not done a premade template, but it works perfectly for our event and existing logo.

    Thanks again :)

    This form http://form.jotformpro.com/form/52584287438972 is already optimized to print to one page. If you will add a field to it, I'm afraid that you'll be having two pages but of course, that is possible.

    I'm sorry and I just saw the above link. Looks good, but can the header with the title be any smaller?

    -I think you mean the header image. You can change its height and width by clicking it and adjusting the sizes in the image properties:

    I am also not sure what you mean when you say to create a version of the from that is all squeezed together. If we can't do it now, how would we be able to by cloning and creating another version?

    -I think my colleague meant to say that you will clone the form again and change the cloned version to match your needs. Here's how to clone: https://www.jotform.com/help/42-How-to-Clone-an-Existing-Form-from-a-URL. Or, this guide if the form is already in your account:

    https://www.jotform.com/help/27-How-to-clone-an-existing-form-from-your-account

    As for the changes in the form, please do that in your current form and let us know the URL here so we can check and make the necessary adjustments again. I will also ask my colleague to help you about this matter.

    Thanks

    Ok, still not sure about what you said about changing the cloned version. I am not sure what that means or why I need to do that. Still adding changes, but here is the url for both of the forms I have in My Forms. I don't have this one that he sent: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/52584287438972? Where is that one?

    So I guess I'm on my own here. Really stinks that only the one form was done bc I have NO idea how to duplicate it for the 2nd form. Nor have you told me how. I don't understand the system. It's great that you are here to help people, but where do you go?!?! I never have the same person, probably part of the problem. Jonathan, you were around last night. Are you out there somewhere?

    I am begging for someone to please help me get the header back on my form. I have tried everything. I wont ask anymore of you. I need these forms for tomorrow and nobody has responded to my last 5 inquiries. I have looked at the forums, searched everywhere, can't find how to do it.

    I need the header from here: http://www.jotform.com//?formID=52586928218164

    to go here: http://www.jotform.com//?formID=52578680494166

    Alright, I did all I can do. I am going to send this last message in hopes that someone feels sorry for me I guess. This is the oddest way of doing business. So, if you feel sorry or you just want to help someone out since you know what your doing and I don't....I just need this link:

    http://www.jotform.com//?formID=52586928218164#

    to match this link:

    http://www.jotform.com//?formID=52578680494166#

    so that they print the right way.

    You will see that I FINALLY got the header on the 2nd form, but it does not have the title of the form. which can just be the same as the 1st one and I will just edit it. The shaded lines I referred to above also came off somehow. Was hoping they would come off of the untitled second form as well.

    I got the form that has the title to print on one page and I was hoping to do that with the other, but I don't think I can. If you see that it can be done, will you please tell me how. I am happy to do whatever I can! It's almost there!!

    You all have helped me so much through all of this. I feel like the forms are a little jacked up and if they decide to go electronic with the surveys, I guess that is a whole other animal. Can I pay you somehow for all of the technical support you offered?

    I need to leave at 10 tomorrow with forms in hand...if anyone reads this, Please help me. I will pay you!!! I am serious, you all have done a lot to help with these forms and I would like to reciprocate.

    Hi,

    I cloned your second form (http://www.jotform.us/form/52578680494166) and edited the form to fit in one page and also added the title. You can check the form here: http://www.jotformpro.com/form/52592030732954.

    Here are the changes I made to the form:

    1. Deleted the Image header and replaced it with Text Field.

    2. Paste the following code in the Text Field I have added to add the Header and Title (this is the same code in the first form).

    <div id="header" class="headerclass pagemargins" style="background-color: #ffffff;">

    <table style="height: 102px;" border="0" width="589" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><colgroup><col width="100%" /></colgroup>

    <tbody>

    <tr align="center">

    <td style="text-align: center;"><img class="headerimg pngfix" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" src="https://jufs.s3.amazonaws.com/Charlie/form_files/final.png" alt="Header Image" width="404" height="115" /></td>

    </tr>

    <tr>

    <td>

    <div style="width: 620px; text-align: center;"><span class="wordwrap" style="font-size: 10pt;"><span class="pspan georgia" style="text-align: center;"><span class="ispan" style="font-style: italic; color: #cc3333;">Prince of Peace Christian School</span></span></span></div>

    <div style="width: 620px; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span class="wordwrap"><span class="pspan georgia" style="text-align: center;"><span class="ispan" style="font-style: italic; color: #cc3333;">Cafeteria Commitee </span></span></span><span class="wordwrap"><span class="pspan georgia" style="text-align: center;"><span class="ispan" style="font-style: italic; color: #cc3333;"><strong>Vendor/Food Service Management Survey</strong></span></span></span><span class="wordwrap"><span class="pspan georgia" style="text-align: center;"><span class="ispan" style="font-style: italic; color: #cc3333;"><br /></span></span></span></span></div>

    </td>

    </tr>

    </tbody>

    </table>

    </div>

    3. Injected this custom CSS code in the form to fit the form in one page when printing.

    .form-label{

    font-size: 10px !important;

    }

    .form-line{

    padding-bottom: 0px !important;

    }

    .form-html p {

        margin-top: 1px !important;

        margin-bottom: 1px !important;

    }

    .form-matrix-column-headers {

        font-size: 10px !important;

    }

    .form-radio-item label {

        font-size: 10px !important;

    }

    .form-section{

    padding-top:0px !important;

    padding-bottom:0px !important;

    }

    You can also cloned the form that I have created to have a closer look on the setup. To clone/duplicate a form just follow the instruction provided in this article: How to Clone an Existing Form from a URL

    As for the lines, can you please tell us what part of the print out is it? I'm not sure if you're referring to the borders in the matrix field.

    See attached. I click preview form, Open in new tab, file, print. If I click Ignore scaling and shrink to fit page width, it shows them. If I just click open in PDF viewer, it hides them, but then the form is a longer 2 pages instead of 1.

    I guess you guys changed the last form for me to fit on one page, which I can't find how to do that for the life of me. This one is still not one page though. http://form.jotform.us/form/52593270943157

    There is also still a line at the very bottom of this form: http://form.jotform.us/form/52586928218164

    The two forms is all I have. One is the food service survey and one is the vendor mgmt. survey (both url's above).

    So to add to the confusion, you guys have helped me print these docs. for when we go to the site visits, but pretty soon these folks are going to want to submit their surveys online and I was wondering if that can still be done? And how would that work if say they wanted them to go to a certain email address? Only about 12 people in all
    .

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,

    Can you try to inject this additional custom CSS code in your form - http://form.jotform.us/form/52593270943157 to fit the fields in one page?

    li[data-type="control_matrix"] > label {

    margin-bottom:0px !important;

    }

    .form-label.form-label-top {

        margin-bottom: 0px !important;

    }

    Your form should look like this - http://www.jotformpro.com/form/52600268560956.

    Ok, trying the code now, but even when I clone the url you sent, it still puts it on two pages when you go to print. Is it bc I am using Firefox and not what you use, which I believe is google chrome?

    A thought....Can the text at the top not be shrunk down even more? Like underneath name of vendor and Item Evaluated? That might do the trick to bring everything up to fit properly.

    Thank you.

    Hi again! I changed a survey ticker at the top to bring the form up a bit, so unless you can get rid of some of the top of the wasted space on the header, I am just going to go with this for now.

    I

    did try adding the code and it did move it up a little, but still 2 pages :(

    Thank you.

    Last thing on those 2 forms...there is also a line at the bottom of the Vendor form under "top 3 lunch items". Can you remove it like you did the other lines?
