Is there a way for someone to edit the data after the form has been submitted?

Asked by Don Brown on September 17, 2015 at 07:25 AM

Once someone fills out a form and submits it, is there a way for the user to upload the form populated with the original data and be able to edit it?

    Thanks

    Hi,

From MY FORM page, select the form you wish to edit and click the SUBMISSION button

From the following window you can search the submission you like to modify by clicking the left or right arrows. Once you have located it, you can press the EDIT button, in the top right corner.

Once completed please remember to save the changes.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

I have a follow up question.

This form of editing is fine for the person managing the forms on JotForm.

Question - Can the person who filled in the original form find and edit the data in a form AFTER the form was submitted?

In other words, is there a URL or some other user interface where a person can search, based on the search the original form appears on the screen populated with the original data and the person can edit the original data and save it?

Is this possible? How can this be done?

    Thanks,
    Don

    Hi,

Yes, end user can also edit forms that have already been submitted. In the AUTORESPONDER, you will notice some extra field. One of them will be {EDIT LINK}. If you place this field in the body of the email. It will create a link so the user can go back and edit the form.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello JotForm

    Yes – that worked.

However, I have 2 follow up questions.

    1. Can I create an {edit_link} link to previously uploaded forms?
    2. I don’t see the {edit_link} link field in any of the reports available, ie: the HTML or Excel report. The reason I want this, is so that sometime in the future, I may want to send this {edit_link} to the person and ask him/her to update or edit their previously provided data. How can I use {edit_link} in this way?

    Thanks for your help,
    Don

Since these 2 new questions seem to be very close together I have decided to move them to a single thread. The reason why I did this is because they are not falling under the same subject and we can reply on a single issue / subject per thread.

The new thread can be found here Don: http://www.jotform.com/answers/666126 and we will be answering it shortly.
