How can I expand the number of years in the Birthdate Quick Tool

Asked by clarkcemsecretary on September 24, 2010 at 04:38 PM

    Hello,

I am creating a form that allows a user to enter the birthdate of an ancestor for a cemetery I am creating the online form for in use by families with ancestors buried at the cemetery.

The year selection needs to go from the early 1800 to 2010. Is this possible or do I need to develop a custom dropdown menu. I looked at the Dropdown menu Form Tool and it only has three options. How can I get this worked into the functionality or is it even available?

    Thanks,

    Dave

Yes, you will need to create a custom dropdown.

Another possibility is that simply give users a 4 letter textbox and let them enter the year manually. It is actually easier for users to enter a number like 1850, than to find it in a huge dropdown.

You can also add a "digit-only" validation to this 4-letter textbox.
