File Picker Widget - Recent update has made a bug in grid report causing the images to not be displayed in it, only their linksAsked by markashton on September 24, 2015 at 03:33 PM
The new client-side scaling of images in the Filepicker widget works well ... apart from a critical problem.
Photos are not being displayed in Grid Reports now according to report config settings.
The setting ... 'Display Photo instead of Link' ... and use 'modal to display images' ... are non-operational.

Even if you don't bother to apply any settings for scaling ... this seems to now be broken anyhow.
Hope this is a quick fix ... no good like this eh?

Looking at the source code ... grid reports have only been setup to show a link that fires up in a new window!
It seems the 3 months I spent getting all that stuff to work with Ken ... is now not there?
Grid reports have no EXIF data paramaters or anything?

Hope you can do something quick as I have an imminent project to roll out with a client and the reporting function is broken. Its the photos they want to see in reports
Hi Mark, thank you for letting us know about this. We have just recently released the update to the Ink FilePicker widget, which might have caused this.
I will however raise this to our developers and send a message to Kenneth since it seems that you two were already working on something - per what you said above, so he would be familiar with this.

As soon as we have any updates for you, we will let you know about them here, but I can unfortunately not give you any specific timeframe when this would be resolved.

Well if its not fixed in a few days I'm screwed because I rely on the filepicker integration to roll out market research projects.
I'd rather have the grid reports working as they were before ... rather than the client side scaling.
They were perfect ... photo thumbnails that fired up into a lightbox ... that had exif rotate so that they were all the right way up after being on a smartphone ... took months of posts on this forum for me to get that integrated.
At least I could then upload the photos manually into filepicker on a desktop and the grid reports would provide what my clients want ... even if I was doing a lot of work

I understand Mark and I am sorry for that, unfortunately I can truly not give you any timeframe, I can even say that, or not say anything about the timeframe, while I consider that that would be slightly rude on my part - even if I completely understand how it sounds so it is a no win for me :)
Now I see that our developer is assigned to this already to take a look at the grid report issue and when looking at the actual grid, I see that it is showing images with a link element, while the older grids show them with the image element instead, so I will add this as a comment to our developer to see if they can bring back the code that was doing this - of course if it would not make any new bugs along the way.
Hopefully we will have an update for you soon.
I have a big problem ... and its going to cost me a client ... and its all the fault of this badly tested recent implementation to the filepicker widget.
I wished I'd never requested it ... and never would have if I knew it would be at the cost of losing all the photo functionality in the grid reports.
Why didn't you test the workflow before roll-out i.e. test the function itself and see that the back-end reporting was intact? What kind of noddy piece of work was this?
The integration has wrecked all the image functionality in grid reports. You can't see any of the scaling work ... so what was the point?
I'll take a deep breath ... I'm sure that this has high priority ... but i need to know whether its going to be done this week ... you're not going to goof up and let me take the hit are you?
A response from Titus or Dev would be most welcomed.

You do an integration to a perfect-working system, wreck it, and then don't even give your customers back what they had before.
Don't tell me there's more prioritised work. if so I'd really like to know what it is.

Apologies for the inconvenience, Mark. I understand your situation. Let me notify again Titus and the widget team about this issue and if we can get any update from there end.
For this project the client has gone with someone else ... who can provide photos on the backend. Which means I've probably lost them for good.
Have a little glance through here to see the amount of effort I put in to get photos going on the back-end ... only for the jotform dev to wreck the whole thing by not testing their recent implementation of scaling in filepicker ... shame on you for not fixing this in a timely way ... and hey take a look at all the unpaid hours of work i did for you ... I can't believe it .... I just cannot believe it ...
I'm sorry to hear about the client but I don't think this was caused by a recent update of ours. I have just checked and files uploaded by the filepicker widget have been displayed as a link since 2013. The reason for this is because we only have the filepicker url we do not know what type of file it is when generating the grid report so we just provide the link to the file.
We could pass on a feature request to our widget team to find out if there is a way to find out the type of the file and display the image if it is an image file?

That is absolute 100% rubbish ... you should be ashamed of yourself ... and you're not going to get away with it. That is one of the worst answers I've had in all many many years of being on this Jotform forum.
To say I'm angry is an understatement.

I have had thousands of photo uploads displaying in grid reports for clients up until a month ago. I often spend many hours dragging photos on a desktop into the widget and then checking the grid reports.
For data protection reasons I have to remove projects soon after completion but my whole income stream has been based on this function in grid reports up until about the time of the image compression integration about two months ago.

Some facts ...
- IT BROKE AT THE LAST INTEGRATION.
- It worked perfectly after the recent image compression function was added from the new filepicker API was integrated. I tested it and used it.
I have another client today ... I am going to have to tell them that I can't do it ...
And you're saying .. you'll put in a feature request !!!
Can you just roll it back via source code control ... so that I can just be operational ...
This is a nightmare ... this recent development has wrecked my business.

The widget team has been reassigned the ticket - Kenneth is in copy - we will work together to restore the grid functionality.

Mark, You can achieve what you want if you post your submissions to a Google sheet using JotForm's google sheet integration. Then display the resulting Google table with the Awesome Tables gadget (you need a google apps account of course).
Awesome Tables will give you the ability to display pics and add filters and searches etc. With the gadget's Advanced Parameters you can select and re-order the display of columns and set row permissions (either for everyone or based on the user).

I've been using Awesome Tables with JotForm in this way for a year or so with no issues. Also check out the Template functionality which is for building html links but I also use it to create alternate column names to the ones used in the form.
Note - if you later add new fields to your form it will break the integration - easy to fix but knowing that will happen might save you some time. Also there are some non-alphanumeric characters (there's a list somewhere) which if used in form labels will break the integration.
My apologies. I misunderstood what had caused the problem and it was caused by a recent change we made. I have reverted the offending changes so all new uploads made by the filepicker widget will display correctly in the grid reports. Unfortunately this will not fix any uploads made whilst the problem was active.
We are very sorry for the problems this has caused you.
