Cannot Edit and Save changes on Visual Report when NO submission is made to the form

Asked by lowellgeneral on September 30, 2015 at 02:32 PM

I have built a Visual Report in one of my forms.

I can't make amendments to the visual report.  It will allow me to overwrite the text in the Header, but then the "save" button doesn't work.

I have tried clearing the Jotform cache, and clearing cookies in browsers.

Have tried different browsers as well, current versions of Firefox, Chrome, and IE 11.

Also, form limit of setting an end time only works intermittently.

    Please help.

I was able to see the problem as well when I checked the existing visual report on your form http://www.jotformpro.com/form/51476009851962

I think the current report is corrupted already and could no longer be edited.

I tried adding a new report, and it was working and can be edited and save.

Can you please try adding a new Visual Report on the form.

You can test the editing of the Header text and Save the report.

Please let us know if issue is not resolve.

It took me a significant amount of time to build this report.  It appears that the only answer is to rebuild it, if I understand you correctly. How will Jotform compensate me for lost time? How did it get "corrupted?"

Also, you did not answer my question about why the time limit on this form only works intermittently.

I hope that the issue is fixed. Your report seems to be better now, and it is also editable on my end.

    Thank you.

Created report is STILL not editable on my end. As I said above, I tried with multiple browsers.  Same result in Chrome and IE 11, and no time to attempt further.

Tried to create a new report again today using Google Chrome latest version and IE 11 , added a chart, moved it, selected a different question from preferences, changed to percentage, and again the form froze and will not save.

The chart comes up with NO DATA AVAILABLE when the freezing occurs.

Does there have to be submission data in the form in order to build a report?  Is this the issue?

Does the form have to be enabled in order to create a visual report?

I need to be able to pre-build a visual report while the form is disabled and when there are no submissions. Is this possible?

My intent is to reuse the same form again and again because visual reports don't clone when a form is cloned and they are awful to rebuild!!!  If I build a visual report and then clear my submissions, will this destabilize the form?

    Please help!

    I'm sorry to hear that.

Does there have to be submission data in the form in order to build a report?  Is this the issue?

I'm not yet sure. But based on your screenshot, it seems the issue is related to a field without a submission in it. However, I cannot replicate it here. Here's report: https://www.jotform.com/report/52744806259059. As you could see it, the checkbox field has no submission and I was able to add it there.

Does the form have to be enabled in order to create a visual report?

No, you can create a report to disabled form. I also tried it here and it works so you should suppose to do it.

I need to be able to pre-build a visual report while the form is disabled and when there are no submissions. Is this possible?

    Yes, based on my example.

If I build a visual report and then clear my submissions, will this destabilize the form?

    I don't think so.

Cloning the form will only copy its format as well as the settings. The integration, the reports won't be copied. You will have to create them again in the cloned version of the form.

Now, please do the following while creating the report:

    a. Press F12 in your keyboard to open the developers tool

    b. Find and click the "Console" tab to view the logs

    c. Add the chart again and if it freezes, check the console area for an error. If you can see any, take a screenshot and post it here. The error might be related to your problem.

    Thanks

Earlier today I uploaded a dummy submission will all fields completed and the problems I've been having vanished.

Welvin I suspect your success was because now there is submission data in every field.

I think you have a flaw in the way these visual reports operate, based on my experience.  It shouldn't matter if a question has submission data in it when creating a report.

I have found a workaround by adding dummy submission data.  Now I will have to remember to remove the dummy data before accessing the visual report and recreate the dummy submission after I clear real submissions.  Clunky, honestly.

It remains tedious to have only the first two questions in a visual report instead of all questions.  This would solve all my issues, and your customers want this ability as evidenced by their frequent comments about this limitation.  When will this feature be available?

I'm sorry, but it seems you're right. I created a new form and created the visual report. I can add the chart and can select the chart data, but I cannot save it. I've found some errors:

I have now forwarded this thread to our developers. If there are updates, you should know it in this thread.

As for your concern about the default chart, I have moved it here: https://www.jotform.com/answers/675341

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thanks for bringing this problem to our attention. The bug with creating visual reports when there is no submission data is now fixed.
