    Imported Check Box field options are not pre-selected when editing a submission

    I'm attempting to import data from an Excel sheet so that my Jotform database is prepopulated. I have a checkbox field on the form and cannot seem to determine how the field in the Excel cell should be formatted when multiple options are selected. Works fine if only one option selected, but get nothing when multiple options are selected. Appreciate any help or feedback.

    I wasn't able to reproduce the issue you're having because, it seems to be working fine on my end. Here's what I did to test, 

    I created a form with just one field (Checkbox field) - Title Me

    Made three sample submissions. 

    Downloaded an Excel file of the submissions

    Excel file contains:

    Then, I have created another form that has only one field (checkbox field) also. - New Title Me

    I have opened it in, http://import.jotform.io/

    Selected the New Form where the data from the excel file of the First form will be imported and clicked Continue.

    You can include or not include the Submission Date data. If you chose not to include it, please delete or remove the column from the excel file that will be imported.

    Copy the header as it is. You can click it and then press Ctrl+C on your keyboard. Then, on the excel file, paste it as the header of the column. On my example, I have removed the Submission Date column to match only the needed data from http://import.jotform.io/. Make sure you save the changes you made on the excel file before you import it.

    On the http://import.jotform.io/, click the Select Source File button

    And select the excel file to import from your computer. 

    Then, click the Import button. 

    Once done, it will show the result of the import. 

    If you check the submission page of the New form where the data from the excel file of the first form were exported to, you will see the new submissions that were imported.

    As you can see, checkbox fields with multiple selections made were also imported as it is. 

    I would suggest you check the format of the excel file you're trying to import.

    Copy the exact text of the header as given from the http://import.jotform.io/.

    The data should be separated by "Next Line" or "Enter" (not a "space" or a comma) for multiple selections.

    I have followed your instructions but still cannot get the results that I need.

    I don't see the attach file capability on this reply but here is a screen shot of my excel file.

    All records import...

    The records with single selection work fine, but the record with two selections is not correct...

    Single selection...

    Multiple selections...

    Any direction?

    Thank you for providing us much details. 

    But I think we will be able to troubleshoot this better if we can get a copy of your actual Excel file being used in the Import process.

    Since there is no means to include and attached file in the support forum, it will be possible to do it instead in our support email.

    What you can do is, respond to this discussion in your email (email alert of this thread). Just send your reply via email and send it to support@jotform.com and attached your Excel file in your message.

    We will be able to respond to your email via our support email as well.

    Let us know if you need further guidance on this.

    I can confirm that importing a checkbox entry with separators like comma and space will appear in the submissions page, but when you edit it, the options are not pre-selected:

    Per your last reply, I'm sure this is your real issue after importing the file.

    I have now forwarded this thread to our developers so they can check this further. If there are updates, you should know it in this thread.

    For now, you may consider selecting the items again before re-submitting the form.

    Hi,

    The import submissions app (import.jotform.io) now supports semi-colons (like the csv export) and newlines (like the excel export) as seperators for the checkbox field, as well as the standard commas. So they can be used and will populate your fields correctly when editing your imported submissions.
