Excel submissions: separate file name from the link of images uploaded through Image Preview

Asked by traven123 on December 29, 2015 at 02:13 PM
I do not have a problem with what the users call the image. It seems that the format is [Name of image when uploaded]link to where the image is saved. I would just like the link to be seperated from the image name so that I can easily get the images instead of copying and pasting certain parts of the cell in excel

I see that you are talking about the files uploaded through the Image Preview widget.

When you download the Excel file of your submissions, files uploaded through this widget will have a separated name from the URL (link), but they will all be in the same cell. This is by design and not something that is directly changeable at this time, because answers from one field on the form always go to one column in the spreadsheet.

In other words, there is one column containing answers for each question/field on the form.

As the widget functions somewhat externally to the form itself (it is in an iframe of its own in order to provide the functionality), the widget returns both the file name and the uploaded file URL as its answer to the main form. This results in your submissions having both the file name and URL in the same column.

The only way that we can work around this limitation at the moment is by using the functionality of your software that handles Excel files, and try splitting the answer into multiple columns. The Text to Column function could be used for this:

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with, and we will be happy to do so.
