Edit Submission Link In Grid Reports - Cannot Edit Invisible Fields

It is now possible to add the Edit Link function to grid reports which is great.

Click it and one can edit the submission ... great stuff.

However, it is severely limited because one can't edit invisible fields ... which for a person who is actually managing the grid report ... should be available.

Editing directly from the grid report is an administrator role ... without allowing access to invisible variables ... a notes field for admin comments etc ... it's pretty useless.

Take it from me ... most will want the edit link in grid reports so as to be able to edit all fields on a form ... not just the visisble ones that respondents are allowed to see

Am I missing something ... or can I Feature Request this please.

    Regards Mark

    Hello Mark,

The "Edit Link" feature which is added in the Grid Report does not does not display the hidden fields of form.

I completely agree with you. The edit submission feature in the grid report will most likely will be used by administrator and not by the user himself.

Let me send a feature request to our back end team. We will get back to you as soon as we have any update form them.

    Thank you!

This feature will allow administrators of projects to be able to add star ratings ... add beautiful notes in a hidden notes field ... etc

The grid report will then transform into a beautiful project management tool as opposed to a useful 'at-a-glance' tool

Can you see the power of my suggestion?

That by enabling hidden fields to show, and be editable, from the edit submissions link ... grid reports become a far more useful offering to jotform clients ... and their clients

    Thanks Mark

I completely agree with you on that Mark as with many other suggestions you have made so far and per the comment by my colleague, it seems that he agrees on this as well.

Having that said, I must say that he had raised it as a possible feature request, but at this time this is marked as just that, as a possible feature in the future.

Most that we can tell you is that when (if) it gets implemented, that you would be updated about it through this thread about it.

Unfortunately at this time, and without any modifications in the backend, we can not even pass the extra parameters through the URL prepopulation to add the data to the hidden fields manually.

How come when you click a submission in the submissions area of jotform it shows you all the fields to do with the submission ... so you can edit them there .. but not when you click edit submissions in a grid report?

It's ridiculous ... you can edit all form fields in jotform submissions ... but just where it counts ... you can't.

Is this just a big oversight as usual because the people designing the jotform features don't actually use them. no one would have spotted this valuable thing in a month of sundays

Surely the edit submissions link to the submission itself just relies on the hidden fields "display: none" attribute to amended.

Surely, this won't take anything to do.

Come on ... another 3 year jotform fix. I flagged this up 3 years ago FFS

    Just tell Aytekin please.

    Thanks Mark

I have just checked the submissions panel and the edit links as per what you have mentioned and it seems that there is a slight variation in how the data is called which is causing this.

For this reason I have move your request to a new thread where I will raise it for reconsideration.

Please note that when we raise the thread Aytekin is the one seeing which features will be implemented and which will not, so he will see it on the new thread.

This is the link to the new thread: http://www.jotform.com/answers/691340 and I will follow up on it shortly.
