I made an order form for selecting items and shipment options but shipment input is not updated like I want, if user changes selection the shipment cost is not always updated. I used conditional formatting, but doesn't seem to recalculate every time the user changes input. A previous value that is now hidden and should be ignored stays on the counter. Can you help? form is here: https://form.jotformeu.com/52653826559366
In the screenshot the shipment cost should be 3.6 but it says 7.2 (which is the previous selection value for multiple item shipping).Page URL:

Looking at your form it seems that your calculation values are starting from the first item, without having a value set for the null entry - the space in the dropdwon.
For this space, we need to add 0 (or value that you need) and then start with the entries for each option.
Looking at the form however, this is correctly added so something else is causing this.
Now everything seems OK, but it seems that the form is not being updated properly when a change is made, even if some changes are made in how the calculations are to be made so I will raise this to our developers for further inspection.

Ok thanks Ben, I've tried several tweaks to get it to work, but can't find a way to get it to work either... You are right it seems that it doesn't update properly while that is specified in de conditional formatting. I include a screen grab of the conditions here...
I look forward to your reply!

Yes, I have made some changes to the form as well during my tests and have tried to use Form Calculation without conditions and to do it through the conditions, but seems that there is something causing the same to not work.
You can see the clone of your form where I tried different things here: https://form.jotform.com/52864780614967
It does work, just not if you update the fields - which is why I raised this as a bug right away.
There are no updates in regards to this just yet, but as soon as it is resolved, we will update you about it through this thread.

ok thanks! Hope this gets solved soon, as it costs me extra time and effort to correct with buyers and extra paypal fees right now.

Any news on a solution for this yet? Maybe an idea for workaround that works?

No news yet, I see this issue is already assigned and flagged as important to our developers, you will be notified once this gets fixed via this thread. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

what's the status of this bug, is there any hope for a solution sometime soon?
- CharlieAnswered on November 03, 2015 at 12:20 PM
The ticket escalated is still opened, but one of our developers is already assigned on it.
I'm checking your form and I see that this is the conditions you have:
I'm quite confused on how the shipping cost is calculated on your case, could you perhaps share us on how this is calculated? I believe that problem is that the shipping cost calculation is not firing when one of the rules you have setup is already met.
I see that there's only one basic shipment one at a time, but you are adding all of them all together? I'll try to come up with a possible workaround while we're waiting for the developers to fix the problem.
Apologies for the inconvenience.

Shipment costs vary with the size of the order and if it has a tracking number or not. I have 4 lists of shipment costs per destination:
1) for basic shipment for 1 item
2) for basic shipment for 2 or more items
3) for tracked shipment for 1 item
4) for tracked shipment for 2 or more items
Depending on the choices the customer makes in the start of the form, how many items and tracking or not the right list with destinations comes up. There is a bit of conditional formatting with rules that result in show/hide combination of the right list out of these four.
The way I set my total cost calculation up is by creating one field that has the total item cost and one that has the shipment cost. I make the sum of the value in the four lists, but say only visible fields count. So because there is only one of them visible at any time in fact the value in the field shipping cost is just the one shipping cost that applies. Because I noticed at first that when anything was changed in the first 2 options (number of items and type of shipment) the old value stayed in the shipment cost field, causing a wrong total amount. So I added the condition if "field" is filled for all the fields that matter for the shipment cost. This helped a bit but like I explained above the value is not always updated... due to this bug?
Does that help? I hope you can find a workaround.

Thank you for the details. My colleague is not online at this time, but I will leave him a note to check your thread to see if he can find the alternative approach.

Thank you for the clarification and additional information on how your form works. I tried to find a workaround yesterday, but failed to find one that works. We'll continue to find a workaround while our developers are still fixing this problem.

Hello guys, this is taking a very long time to solve! Can you please look into this again and help me correct this?
I've now noticed another (probably linked) problem when buyer selects bank transfer the shipment costs don't show up in the total amount of the confirmation email, but the form does show the right total amount while filling in the order form. I include some screenshots to explain:

We have received no feedback from our assigned developer regarding the status of the resolution.
On examining our form it appears the shipping cost is not updated accordingly when the stand quantity is switched between 1 and 2.
I have added two extra conditions that check or the total of the stands and get the drop-down value based on the total, here is the breakdown.
1. If total cost is 60 or less than 60 m pick the shipping cost from the first drop-down and pass it to the shipping cost field as a text element.
2. If shipping cost is greater than 60 pick the shipping cost form the second drop-down and pass it as a text value to the shipping cost field.
This should cater for the change in the stand quantities in the two drop-downs and update the shipping cost field with the correct value. It should also correct the case of the field missing in the emails.
Here is a sample of the form I edited, kindly let us know if it addresses the issue, the total price stands field is visible in this copy for testing purposes.

Hi Sammy, this is definitely going towards a solution! The shipping cost field updates indeed when the amount of items changes from one to more or the other way around. Would it be possible to do the same kind of 'reset' also for the type of shipment (basic or tracked)? Because this still doesn't update right to reflect the choice that is picked at the dropdown. See my screen grab to illustrate this, here the shipment cost used to calculate total amount is 11€, while the selected shipping option for 1 stand (tracked shipment to finland) costs 22,61€
This destination was selected previously, and is not reset, when I choose something else the right shipping cost is used.
I can't check if this solves the miscalculation-in-email problem because I don't receive or see the emails. Is there any way to see this?

My colleague Sammy is not online now, I will try to figure this and get back to you if I found a way around to apply it.

Hi there, any news on the possibility to expand this new solution to reset when the type of shipment choice is picked or changed?
+ Is there any way I can receive the email to see if this works for adding the shipping costs to the total amount in the confirmation email for people who opted for bank transfer payment.
I really don't understand how this goes wrong because:
-when the buyer pays with paypal this problem doesn't occur
- the total amount shown on the form is also correct (well, this can be wrong too, but at least it always has extra money added for the shipping costs when they are selected).
- bbtunaAnswered on December 06, 2015 at 04:09 PM
I think I've somehow found a solution myself. I've put a reset by updating field to 0 when one stand and basic shipment is picked. And changed the way the shipment cost field was filled.

Glad to hear that you have found another workaround on the issue. I checked the ticket for this thread and it seems that our development team are still working on this issue. We will inform you on this thread once there is an update from our development team. Regards.
