I followed the directions in the user guide to export my form submissions to an excel document, but after I click on submissions there is no button that says "download". Am I doing something wrong? Or is there another way that this works that I'm unaware of.
Please assist!

On the submissions page, if you scroll you will see a "Download as Excel" button above the grid.
You can also create an Excel Report. To do that select your form on My Forms page, click on "Reports" button at the top and select "Add New Report".

The "download as excel" button is not showing. There is no grid, no nothing. That is the problem I'm having. It's just a big grey area with a print button, a reply button, a foward button and a delete button...that's it. So, now what do I do?

You need to scroll down. It is at the bottom of the page.
Another possible solution is to use Reports. As explained above:
You can also create an Excel Report. To do that select your form on My Forms page, click on "Reports" button at the top and select "Add New Report".

I did scroll down, there is nothing else. I followed the directions exactly and it is just not there.
If I take the other route of creating the report, will it automatically update every time I have a new submission? Or will I have to keep re-creating it? The staff will continually be completing this form on an ongoing basis, there will be no end date. Does this make sense?

Yes, it will always update automatically. You can bookmark the URL on your browser and every time you click on it, you will get the latest version.
