trying to clone a form from a custom URL

I'm trying to clone one of my colleagues forms but they've set it up with a custom url and it doesn't work.

Is there anyway to resolve that custom url back to a regular form id?

The link that you send us is a customized form link, that's why you are not able to clone it. You can clone forms with their ID.
