You can indeed set up a registration form with a personalized confirmation.  Create your registration form, here are several templates in case you would like a base to start with:

Then, add and autoresponder to that form:

You can customize the body of the autoresponder with field data for a more personal approach:

Clicking on the fields from the column on the right will insert the appropriate field ID where ever your cursor is.  The above would replace {fullname} in the email with whatever was entered in that field in the form.
