Am I right that when a submission is opened for edit, a date/time single field does NOT get reloaded with the value in the original submission?

I understand that the DateTime Single widget is not populating its value while editing the submission from submission view. I've tried created a simple form with the widget and able to replicate the issue. I'm not sure if this is happening since the widget is loaded on an iframe.
Let me forward the thread to our backend team to take a look at the issue. Once we have any update on the issue, you'll posted here.

Sorry, but you have changed the subject of this thread. I was NOT complaining about the behaviour, I was simply wanting confirmation that is what happens. If the data/time single widget retained the value from the original submission the widget would not work in providing a timestamp for each edited resubmission.

Here's what will happen: In the screenshot(.gif) below, I have submitted the form 11/07/2015 16:54. Then I edited it at around 11/07/2015 16:56. You will notice that the time was changed and the time was updated when it was re-submitted from edit mode.
To answer your question, the Date/Time Single widget will have the current date/time when you edit it and re-submit it. Please be reminded that the time that will remain on the widget is the time when the form loaded and not the time you submitted it, unless, of course, you updated the time manually.
I hope this answers your question. Let us know if you need any further assistance. Thank you.

Just to add,
To my understanding, you do not want the value of the widget to be edited, you want it to have the current date/time every time your form is being submitted or re-submitted, is that correct? I understand that on a different thread, you requested for the same widget to be read-only, correct?
What my colleague, Kiran, have submitted as a report is that when the form is submitted with a date/time being selected then you edit the form, the selected time prior to edit is gone and the widget is blank.
On my example above, I have set the widget as to when there is no selected date/time(since it is a read-only or the datepicker is disabled), it will just have the current date/time, that's why even if you edit it there is a value on the widget and that is the current date/time of the edit.

Your answer seems to be the confirmation that I asked for in my original question.
I did not say anything about widget becoming blank on editing the form. What I said (in another thread) was that it appears that the widget gets filled not when the form is opened in edit mode, but when the widget is first made visible. So if it is on a page that never gets displayed it remains empty and therefore is excluded from the notification and autoresponse emails in locked mode. Now that I have been given help on using css code to hide the widget, I think this behaviour is fine.

On behalf of my colleagues, you are most welcome.
We are happy to hear that you are satisfied with the way the widget currently works, when used in conjunction with the CSS codes from the other thread.
If you need assistance with anything else, please do not hesitate to open a new support thread about it, and we will do our best to help.
