    When 'Take Photo' widget is used on mobile devices, image that is taken is missing in PDF report

    Asked by SquareCullen on November 16, 2015 at 12:33 AM

    When i create a .pdf with images tht have been uploaded, I would like those images to appear on the .pdf and not a link to those images.

    Sometimes the image appears but most of the time just the link.

    This is the form I am using.

    Thanks!

    Am I right that those images are from the take photo widget?

    When I tried it with one of my form, it appears to be working fine. I see the image on the PDF file.

    I also tried it in your form just now and I can see the images on the PDF.

    Is this already resolved? If the problem happens on another form, I suggest to make a clone of that form and use the cloned form. This should reset the PDF layout and this might fixed the problem.

    Please let us know how it goes. Thanks!

    OK thanks for the answer, if I use the form on my computer then it works fine. If I use the form and upload from my mobile device then I get the links in the .pdf. I have a form with some more photos on it here... I am using the photo widget. Is this to do with the size of the photos?

    The pictures appear in the images on the preview in Jotform it is after I download the .pdf that the links appear.

    I was able to replicate mentioned issue with Take a Photo widget when I submitted my cloned form on my mobile. Image was not shown inside of PDF report.

    I will escalate this issue to our developers and we will inform you via this thread once this issue is resolved.

    Has anything been done to get the photos taken from a mobile device to appear on the .pdf instead of a link to that photo?

    Thanks

    I have a solution that works for me on my forms and devices.

    The short answer is to use the Image Upload Preview widget and insert the following CSS code. It makes the giant mobile device image files easier for the PDF editor to load. I hope this helps others with this issue.

    img {
        max-width: 25%;
        height: auto;
    }

    I made a very simple low tech video explaining how it works if this doesn't make sense:

    It works for me...as long as I take the picture landscape.  If I take a portrait picture for the form on my iphone, it rotates the picture 90 degrees to make it landscape in the PDF.  The photo is uploaded to your server correctly, but once you look at submissions or get the PDF it is rotated.  That's such a weird thing for it to do.  I'm going to check if it does that on an android tablet too later on to see if it's just an iphone issue.

    I did some searching and found that this can be a common issue with uploading large photos.  There's a fix your developer can use here:

    https://forum.getkirby.com/t/wrong-orientation-of-images-portrait-landscape-after-upload/692

    I think that since most mobile devices have large pictures as defaults, it may be causing all sorts of issues with the various image widgets?
