do I need authentication to download from S3?

I am using the drag and drop upload widget. I am running into problems trying to download the images automatically using cURL.

Does S3 require an authorization key?

Sammy actually pointed out to use the -L parameter when using cURL and I think this has solved the issue, otherwise I would need a key
