I would like for the user to be able to type in text and then click Preview and the text will show on a stone. Is this possible with JotForm?
Like you see on this website. http://www.rosarygarden.org/rosary-garden-bricks/sign-up/
- BenAnswered on November 20, 2015 at 02:11 PM
I took a look at your form Christine and it would be possible, just not in the same manner as it is currently on your website (at least not without a lot of styling).
I made a quick demo of what could be done, and a similar setup could be made if you would like to have a textbox per row of text on the brick, but this is the general idea:
Alternatively, you could use the following widget: Draw on image
Please do let us know if either of the two would work for you and we would be happy to assist with any further questions :)
- ChristineAnswered on November 20, 2015 at 02:16 PM
Thanks so much for your response.
This is great, could the preview show the text in the center of the brick? Can you limit the amount of characters? We need to do 2 lines no more than 16 characters on each.
- BenAnswered on November 20, 2015 at 02:24 PM
You are welcome Christine.
Just to confirm. You would like to:
1. have the text start from the center - and expand to left and right as more text is added
2. 16 characters in one line
3. ability to add 2 lines of text
Now, next to this, if they add just one line, should the text be in the center of the brick and if they add two lines, the text should be moved equally from the center towards the top and bottom, or should the text stay as it is?
Next to this, I would also like to recommend that you create the form with all of the fields that you will need. Once you do we can help you with this specific fields setup and styling.
I say this since otherwise, when you add fields, the style might need more adjusting and I presume that you will ask additional details.
- BenAnswered on November 20, 2015 at 03:25 PM
Thank you for the additional details Christine.
Not sure if the text needs to be in the middle if they only use one line. Is it possible?
I like to cover all angles - at least those that I remember - since it is easier to think about it at the start than later on. It is a bit more complex, but it is likely to be possible through a bit of CSS, but if they are each in specific position, that is much easier.
Now in regards to the cost, I have moved this to a new thread so that we can properly assist you there in regards to this.
We do this since we can only assist with one issue / question per thread and this would allow us to answer any other related questions while still having this thread to help you with this form setup.
This is the new setup that we will be replying to shortly: http://www.jotform.com/answers/708981
- BenAnswered on November 20, 2015 at 03:43 PM
Before replying to your other question, I wanted to create a quick demo of what I understood: https://form.jotform.com/53235592384965
If you like, you can clone the form to your account and go from there, but to not affect the positions, you should not add any new fields between the top input box (top line) and the image, but feel free to add fields before and after it.
You can see how you can clone the form to your account by following these steps: How to Clone an Existing Form from a URL and as mentioned, we will get back to you on the other question shortly. :)

I've started the form herehttps://form.jotform.com/53394289180160
I would like that if you choose one of the colors the correct image would show and then the thee lines of text could display on the correct color stone, with a 16 character limit on each line. I will also need one exactly the same but with a 20 character limit on all three lines. If it can all be done on one form with the choice of choice of size that determines the character limit that is great. Small is 16 character limit and medium and large is the 20 character limit. Thanks for your help.

You can use Condition Logic to Show/Hide fields on the form.
you can test this example form https://form.jotform.com/53395168180965?
I was not able to properly understand the filling the textbox field with character limit using the selected images.
If you can explain more in breakdown details, we will see what we can suggest as solution.
- dogood33Answered on December 06, 2015 at 01:45 PMHi Chris-
I tried a test from the link in this email and it said "Submitted" but
it didn't let me see the stone.
I'm going into my account with JOT to see if there is a sample there I
Will you be able to remove the submit button?
Also, he said we will suggest a solution. Does that mean they're not
building the form?
Note: "Second" on second line is spelled wrong.

Please let us know how we can be of assistance.
- dogood33Answered on December 06, 2015 at 02:45 PMHi there!
Thanks for the prompt response.
I need people to be able to input text onto stones and see a sample.
Text needs to be Helvetica font and be limited to three lines (centered)
- dogood33Answered on December 06, 2015 at 03:32 PM
just like the sample that Ben at JotForms did
- JotForm SupportjonathanAnswered on December 06, 2015 at 04:50 PM
Thank you for the explanation.
Do you want the same feature (add text into stones) into your jotform https://form.jotform.com/53394289180160 ?
In my example form https://form.jotform.com/53395168180965? I have applied the other option (show/hide stone base on selection), do you need that feature as well?
We need to confirm that this is the form so that we can apply the solution similar to the example form provided by Ben.
- dogood33Answered on December 06, 2015 at 08:32 PM
Yes, show/hide but just like the brick form but with the preview of the text on the stone. Text should be centered on the stone. Helvetica font if possible.
- BenAnswered on December 06, 2015 at 11:22 PM
Actually with 3 different images that are shown with conditions it makes it a bit trickier to accomplish, but I will follow up shortly with the form for you to check out. :)
- dogood33Answered on December 07, 2015 at 03:40 PM
Okay, so what if we just showed the white stone? Then could we limit characters depending on the size?
- JotForm SupportjonathanAnswered on December 07, 2015 at 04:44 PM
Ben's demo form https://form.jotform.com/53398558779985 shows the white stone by default.
Can you please clarify what else needed to be change.
- dogood33Answered on December 07, 2015 at 04:53 PM
You said it was tricky to limit the characters depending on Small, Medium and Large.
So I'm asking, would it be easier to do if we didn't have choices for the stones and only showed it on the white stone?
- JotForm SupportjonathanAnswered on December 07, 2015 at 06:04 PM
You said it was tricky to limit the characters depending on Small, Medium and Large.
I believe what it meant was, if the images will be smaller, then the text will not fit on them and can be tricky to dynamically make the text resize according to the image size.
Currently the demo form https://form.jotform.com/53398558779985 have fixed image sizes but have different color/images. Will this not work yet?
- dogood33Answered on December 10, 2015 at 12:54 PM
It's good, but when someone chooses
Medium or Large they should be able to put 20 characters on each line.
Small they should be able to but 16 characters on each line
- BenAnswered on December 10, 2015 at 01:21 PM
Sorry for confusion.
I will try to explain what I meant.
If you add:
Medium and Large with 20 characters and Small for 16 characters you either need to:
1. Have different sets of fields, ones that will allow 20 and others that will allow 16 or
2. Have 2 sets of forms so that one or the other is shown under the checkbox.
I would advise against the second option since that adds complexity when it comes to collecting data, and viewing the same while in the same time the first option means that it would be possible, but higher chances of it looking different for other people.
Looking at the screenshot of my colleague, I see that there would need to be made even further modifications, since some letters are wider than the others in Helvetica. For example, try the form and there I letter multiple times. Now under it enter W letter until you fill out the box.
You will see that we would need to make few modifications on this as well, so every change is impacting what is shown and how.
Because of that, I would like to ask you to build the entire form as you wish, and we would then take a look at it and add additional fields and conditions for them, together with the CSS to make it shown over the stone.
If you have larger images of stone, do let us know and upload them to the form, while if you are going to show the same image for all sizes, that is good as well, just something that we should know.
- dogood33Answered on December 10, 2015 at 03:36 PM
Okay, thank you very much for all of your help. We've decided to make it simple. The form will just be the 3 lines with a 16 character limit for each and will display on the white stone only. The form is complete, if you could just make the text display it will be ready to go. Thanks.https://form.jotform.com/53436073434150

Thank you for the update. I see this was your latest form https://form.jotform.com/53436073434150
I will collaborate with Ben to accomplish what you need on the Form since he have done most of the coding work anyway.
We will update you on this thread as soon as we can.
