Problems with pre-populating text area

I'm trying to pre-populate a text area with pretty simple html. It works fine for things like <h3> and <b>, but won't take link code -- i.e., <a href=http://etc etc. It actually refuses to save the code in the default value area. How can I include link code in this area?

I also want to embed the values from some other fields in the above pre-population. I thought I might be able to simply include field names in brackets, but it doesn't seem to recognize these as field names. Is there a way to do this that doesn't require an advanced degree? I'm a pretty basic-level user.

Unfortunately, you can't do this using our basic text area field. You will have to select Rich Text in the Editor Mode option. I think you have figured this out already.

As for passing the values from the other fields to the textarea, unfortunately, it's not possible. Do you want this textarea to be editable or are you trying to have a static text there? Because you can do this using our Free Text HTML field.

    For example:

    Let us know.

    Thanks

It looks like I can do everything I need to do with the Free Text HTML field. I hadn't realized that. Thanks.

By the way, Jotform's customer support is terrific.
