I've followed both procedures but am still receiving the error message
There was an error on your SMTP configuration....
I have even re embedded my form

Have you tried the guide here: How to Setup SMTP for a Form? You can use Mandrill also to send SMTP email. You can check the guide here: How to use Mandrill to Send Emails From Your Own Email Address.

I solved my problem by not using a mac.com address and using an icloud.com address instead
must be something to do with apple changing its system because in 3 years of using Jotform
I had never encountered this problem
It started approximately 5 weeks ago

It seems that there should be an issue with the mac email address or its SMTP settings since you say that using other email address is working fine.
