    Do forms time out?

Asked by didaly on January 26, 2012 at 05:24 PM

We have forms on a password-protected website hosted by Weebly, so I may need to find out if they time out as well. But do our forms on jotform time out as some kind of default measure, or just stay open as long as the user leaves the windown open?

    Hi,

Thank you so much for asking. Form's will never stand by or logoff, it will stay forever on your website once embedded, open or close browser. Forms will only get disabled when account quota exceeds its limits or when violating our Terms of Use.

Should you have any other inquiries, feel free to contact us again. Thank you for using JotForm!

    Hi Jotform Support

I don't understand your answer to didaly's question.

If my respondent takes a long time to fill out the form, is it possible the form will not 'submit' properly because it has timed out?

Often forms will only let you take a minute, or 15mins etc to press submit.

    cheers

    Carl

No, to my knowledge our forms neither time out nor is there any setting in the form builder to make them do so. So, if a user were to partly complete a form, leave the browser tab or window open and go do something else, when they return after a day or whatever time period has elapsed, they would still be able to complete and submit the form.

(I could however envisage circumstances where a time-out feature would be useful and as such, I will submit a ticket to our development team.)

thanks. Yeah it could be useful in some cases.

But I don't want it in the form I am planning at the moment.

I am currently having this problem.

My client keeps pushing "Submit" and the form then cuts to an error message that the form timed out.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
