Is it possible to pre-populate a form with data?Asked by Ray on November 25, 2015 at 12:10 PM
Is it possible to load a form which is pre-populated with data from a data file? For example we wish to pre-populate a form with data that a Client had supplied previously and give them the opportunity to review and make changes before submitting the new version.
Though it is not possible to pre-fill the form from a file, you can ore-fill the form via URL parameters. Here is our guide on how to do so:
The guide has a link to an app that will create the URL for you. You would then send your client that specific URL to review and update.

Hi, Many thanks for your response. I have followed you advice and it works fine. Is it possible to obtain a copy of the completed form URL at submission time (which could subsequently be used to re-populate the form if changes are required ti be submitted). I note is is possible to get php code sent to the Thank You Page but it is beyond me to turn the code into a URL.
I'm not quite sure if I understand your follow up concern. However, if you wish to have the prepopulated form URL on that "Thank You" page, then that's possible. However, it will create a new submission instead of updating an existing submission.
If you wish to have a URL that allows you or the user to update or edit an existing submission, then you can add the edit link either on the email template, you can check this guide to learn more about it: http://www.jotform.com/help/40-How-to-Let-Users-Update-Their-Form-Submissions-at-a-Later-Date
Or in the "Thank You" page where your users can see the edit link and copy it for future use.
I hope that helps. If I misunderstood your concern, please do let us know.
In my colleague's name, you are welcome.
In regards to your other question, I have moved it to a new thread here: http://www.jotform.com/answers/712618 where we will be answering shortly.
