I am trying to move some of the forms from the list into files as I don't need to use all forms all the time. Same way as I would file my emails.
I tried to move them but they only get "tagged" and remain on the list
Can you please advise?

When you go to "MY FORMS" page, it will show all the forms created on your account, even the ones grouped into folders. So, if you will group forms into folders, create a folder for the forms you are using: http://www.jotform.com/help/204-How-to-Add-or-Group-your-Forms-into-Folders
So, when you logging to your account, click on that folder to only show those forms you are using.
