    Stranger URL extension (jotform related)

Asked by goquote on November 29, 2015 at 07:50 AM

    Hi there,

I have been noticing inconsistencies in my sites conversion rates of late and upon closer inspection into analytics, I have noticed a "strange" extension being added to pages?

    this is it: /?from=http://adf.ly/1SDmxr

here is the analytics results for 29.11.2015 [conversion rate for the day 6%] - WAY below 26% average

and here is the analytics results for 28.11.2015 (the day before, same embedded form, no changes) 27.5% conversion which is bang on.

My site is a WIX site, so the form is embedded using "iframe".

I am concerned not allowing my site or form to function correctly. When you add it to the end of the my URL so example http://www.gotreequotes.com.au/?from=http://adf.ly/1SDmxr

everything seems fine, but I just cant account for the shocking bounce/ conversion rates JUST on the days that this occurres?

The form I am using on my account is called "1 page vertical form"

    any help would be appreciated

    Ben

Adf.ly is a URL shortener and we are not using it in our forms so I don't think this problem is related to Jotform. If you are using this service then that is the case. The short link from adf.ly is currently not available and seems like the account associated with the link is already suspended. I tried expanding the URL, but it's not working anymore.

You can exclude the URL in your analytics settings.

ok, but it's the folling part of the url that has me worried.

    /?From=http

the "/Form" part leads me to believe it is being generated from your form?

It's not that the link is messing with my analytics, it is messing with my real life conversions which is reflected in my analytics. Excluding it wont fix the problem.

The days it appears in the anayltycs is days I get very few sign up with my form which is costing me money.

I pay adwords to send me traffic, and when that paid traffic is unable to sign up... it is a major issue.

Are you able to look into it further for me please.

Would it have something to do with the fact it's a WIX site?

I look forward to hearing from you

    Best regards

    Ben

I just found out that my own Analytics is displaying the same thing. It's a kind of a spam. So weird, the internet nowadays. Here are some suggestions from the net (I didn't try them yet):

Don't click on that link!! Adf.ly is a malicious website. If you click on that, you will suffer malware attack!!! You can get some reference here:
