    Various questions about functionality

Asked by Emily Kyriakides on January 30, 2012 at 06:08 PM

    Hi,

I'm loving JotForm but have a few questions. I've set up a form but can't figure out if the following is possible:

1 - When I create a dropdown choice of responses, rather than limiting respondendents to one option, is it possible to 'select all that apply' and have multiple answers?

2 - I wanted to put quite a lot of text into a sub-label but it ran all the way off the screen rather than wrapping round into a short paragraph of copy. Is that fixable?

3 - In order to ensure the form is accessible to visually impaired people, is there an easy way to increase the size of the text with the click of a button, or would we have to create another large text format version?

4 - Can we impose a word limit on text box answers?

5 - I'm pretty sure that each submitted response/application can have a unique ID number attached to it but am not quite sure how to set that up.

6 - Are there any issues with specific browsers? I know Chrome used to be problematic.

7 - Can I have a 'Save & Finish Later' button rather than 'Submit' so that someone can start an application which they can return to later?

8 - I'm creating a form for people submitting film proposals. A few may have two writers, directors, producers involved but not the majority, so I'm only setting up the data collection section for one of each of the three roles. Is there an easy way for them to click a button to generate a second identical form if they have a second person in that role to tell us about?

Hope that all makes sense and look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Emily

    1. Why dont you use some thing like a checklist.

    2. Try using hover text.

    3. If you copy the ENTIRE source and put a css link to up the font size on click it would work. But i would find it easier to duplicate and than just increase the font size.

    4. Try the max size setting in the top bar.

    5. That is actually preset. in email alert you can click the bottom option to add uniquie id. Also you have to choose to view it in submissions by clicking setting and checking the uniquie id box. You can also add other uniquie id's with the uniquie id field.

    6. I have not noticed and i have loads of forms and all the major browsers exept IE

    7. http://www.jotform.com/help/97-How-to-Save-Forms-to-Continue-Later this is difficulty but might help. I have managed to set this up.

    8. You could duplicate the form in the form creation wizard. But then you would have to deal with multiple response charts. Mabye try form collapse under survey tools. Title it Something like Add extra Writer. Unfortunatly the field that follows must be imeaditly followed by a page break or the whole form will colapse. You could also place one at the end with the Title ADD EXTRA WRITER PRODUCER etc. then you would not need multiple pages.

    Hello Emily,

Thank you for your interest in our services.

In the future please ask one question per one thread. It will help us to provide more efficient support.

1 - When I create a dropdown choice of responses, rather than limiting respondendents to one option, is it possible to 'select all that apply' and have multiple answers?

It is possible to use a Check Box Element for multiple selections.

2 - I wanted to put quite a lot of text into a sub-label but it ran all the way off the screen rather than wrapping round into a short paragraph of copy. Is that fixable?

We will need to see an example in order to provide some solution. Alternatively, you may use a Free Text (HTML) element for text paragraphs.

3 - In order to ensure the form is accessible to visually impaired people, is there an easy way to increase the size of the text with the click of a button, or would we have to create another large text format version?

Unfortunately, we do not have such a feature yet.

4 - Can we impose a word limit on text box answers?

The Entry Limit feature is available for Text Area element.

5 - I'm pretty sure that each submitted response/application can have a unique ID number attached to it but am not quite sure how to set that up.

You can drag and drop the Unique ID element to your form, this element is located under Power Tools.

6 - Are there any issues with specific browsers? I know Chrome used to be problematic.

We are always trying to optimize our application for every popular browser. It works fine with the Google Chrome and the other modern internet browsers.

7 - Can I have a 'Save & Finish Later' button rather than 'Submit' so that someone can start an application which they can return to later?

We have a workaround for this:

How to Save Forms to Continue Later

8 - I'm creating a form for people submitting film proposals. A few may have two writers, directors, producers involved but not the majority, so I'm only setting up the data collection section for one of each of the three roles. Is there an easy way for them to click a button to generate a second identical form if they have a second person in that role to tell us about?
